  1. Late to the party here but let me just say: On the original topic of adjustable toe links, before the tech desk was a thing I specifically emailed to see if I could take an OEM BMW sway bar link, which is a solid, round metal rod with two ball joints at the end, cut it in half, thread the ends, and run them into a coupling nut secured with lock nuts to make an ajustable sway bar link and was told in no uncertain terms - zero points, fabrication and fasteners are free. On the topic of repurposing material to make items on the fixed point value list, this is 100% allowed

  2. Don't know why anyone bothers with the little drip pans. We bought a shallow concrete mixing pan years ago for $10 and it absolutely outclasses a traditional drain pan. Shallow lip, easily trimable for fitting halfway under a low car, and a very large footprint so catching spills is easy. I'd bet once full it would hold 5+ gallons. We also lined the bottom with sorby pads to stop splash back.

  5. Whether it has been done or not, it is absolutely allowed. Remember when that rule came out of nowhere when the new rules were released one year and then got retracted a week later? That rule said “even if you are using repurposed parts, fixed points list items are fixed points”.

  6. We run Brailles in both of our cars and AFAIK we have had no issues with them over the last few years.

  7. We considered a LiFePO4 battery from BT until we found out that if the battery charge gets below 8 volts, the battery locks up, and must be reset using the BT charger. Heard about this happening to a team in the middle of a race, so we went with a purpose built racing battery from Braille. It is an 11.5 lb AGM gel cell battery (590 CCA), so lead acid is not a problem. Our original battery is 45 lbs, so a weight savings of 30+ lbs without having to worry about reliability, etc. was worth the extra 8-9 lbs difference between the LiFePO and AGM. And yes, brackets and re-location are free.

  8. I think it's a metal fabrication series Having someone on the team that knows how to bend and weld poop seems to be worth 40pts

  9. Not really an issue. More like a clarification, and we are discussing it. More on my side of the job. Do we just ignore flagrant puy that we see on the show thats not reported by a corner worker?

  10. So you’re saying there is an issue?

  11. And this is an operations/Event Directors issue, not a board of directors issue.

  12. They write “lithium ion” all over the website and batteries but some small text says Safest Battery Technology using full BMS and Lifepo4 Lithium chemistry So it seems they are fine? Sidebar: is correct capitalization of the elements that hard? Company fail.

  13. I have a 24' + 3' V nose trailer. Tow it with whatever Enterprise has at the time. Move the car out and can easily fit 2 queen size air mattresses. Space heaters work well, and I have a 2/3 size fridge/freezer combo with an 80's microwave/cancer machine on top. Bunch of LED strip lights and a china freight generator work like a charm every weekend. I've found I need to be at the track too early for me to want to drive ~15 minutes from a hotel.

  14. We just went fishing out of PCB. It seems like about 10% of the people in the panhandle are wearing masks. I honestly felt like the outlier. The guys I was with (ex-military buddies and another friend) were all mask-free all weekend...at breakfast, at Schooner's, at the store...pretty much everywhere. And nobody in the hotel was wearing masks except at the front desk. Was as pretty different climate than most of central Florida.

  16. I would suggest getting at least a 28' trailer. 24' can do, but it will get full really quick. I now have a 32' to fit two cars and even if I had only one car it is very nice to have the extra room. It drives just like the 28 or 24 and is easy to pull as the weight difference was very small. The cost was about the same also. What I did was get some twin mattress and just some bungy straps to hold them on the wall when going to and from. I just pull them down and put them on the floor to sleep. It works out great and a good portion of tracks have showers at them. Hotel cost to just

  17. @Money Shift Racing thanks for sharing, it looked a little less eventful from a video replay but it sure felt pretty hairy live... good thing we bought that brake fluid from y'all Saturday evening

  18. Where did that white Golf come from anyhow? It didn’t have Champcar number plates or sponsor stickers. It only came out on Sunday and definitely wasn’t in the pre race roster.

  20. How much time can race control allocate to looking through someone’s video to see if a call was incorrect? They need to verify that this video is from the current race, record time of the infraction (hopefully the corner called it in right away and time was recorded), sync up the video to that time, find the corner in question in the video and watch the video leading up to and following that corner. Then watch several laps before and several after to make sure that the time wasn’t off by a couple minutes. You can’t just trust a team when they walk up and say “here’s our proof, no P
