This generator has been invaluable during our time with no power or water. I made a cable to back feed power into the garage 240 fifty amp outlet. ( yes it is illegal I know. Sometimes one needs to do whatever is necessary to survive.) This unit ran everything in our home, with common sense, including the heat pump for 144 hour continuously until the power was restored. Our elderly neighbors and some children stayed with us until power was restored. We feed 28 people over the last 6 days. We all banded together to help each other in a brutal time. Why? Why did this happen? There w4 points

I am actually working on the details for the Mid-West Mini-Championship right now. 4 races. 4 weekends of fun. Presented by Money Shift Racing here is a sneak peak4 points

FYI you don't need to wire anything into the panel, you just need a basic dead-man cord. Basically an extension cord with male on both ends. The breaker that feeds the outlet you plug into essentially becomes your main, but you will be limited my the breaker size as unlike the real main you will probably be 20A or so. You then typically want to shut off any breakers you don't need as things that are plugged in but not turned on may be stealing a tiny pit of precious amperage. You want to shutoff the actual main for reasons already mentioned. Doing this with a small generator can get yo3 points

How are we on the topic of slowing down miata’s? This is what happened to your Champcar 2021. Move along to another thread. On topic, we installed a new fuel cell we got a banging deal on, in doing so i need to relocate the fuel pumps, and surge tank, as well as re-fab the sheet metal in the rear lol. Anyone looking for a 22gal fuel cell with 1 year of cert left fully setup with venting, discriminator, and hydramat? We then started cleaning and re-lubing our suspension components. Next is nut and bolt check everything, put on lock nuts, and were waiting for Spring Road3 points

I have an interlock on one of my outside panels (that feeds an interior subpanel) and have a Cat 12kW portable generator. I have hard start kits on all of our outdoor compressors. The generator output is 48A, so can run a larger AC and a smaller AC (5 and 2 ton), refrigerators, lights, well pump, TV, IT closet. We would be completely comfortable. If we have a hurricane predicted I get about 2-3 days of fuel (8 VP jugs plus 13.2 gallon tank). By then gas stations will be reopened. Of course. in the 3 hurricane season I have had this setup, we haven't gotten hit by a hurricane.2 points

AH, the good ole- double-ended-death-cord. Thats how my gen is wired up - to the old 50a hot-tub breaker.2 points
-
Not to worry I have done the same, almost, since we have lost power for extended periods I have a breaker in the main panel wired for a 220 cord to the outside generator location. It works to run the well and frig/freezer and some small amounts of lights. Got a wood burner we light up and burn 24/7 for heat. I understand completely, one does what you need to do........fyi we finally got into double digits today after 11 days of sub zero. And yes the main breaker to the pole is off.2 points
-
Fair question. And for you sanity I am well aware of the dangers. The main in the box was off and I never left the house or area unattended. An electrician made the cable for me. Yes it had a built in breaker etc. Hopefully you never have to make those decisions.2 points

I cannot claim the credit for everything. My wife went to the Elderly Couples and, with her heart and convincing manor, talked them into coming to our home. As for the children that was not difficult. Oregon can be significantly colder than Texas or Florida. 5 days will test your metal. Glad everything worked out for you. One of the appealing attributes of Texas is the friendly people and love of country. I wish the rest of the country could have a bit of this quality.1 point

Ok, The time has come. I've gotten bids back from 3 shops. I feel comfortable sticking with my original estimates on pricing. $500/car You are also more than welcome to buy parts one-by-one Hats: $100 ea Brackets: $150 ea https://racehuggins.com/shop/ All of the details are in the "Kit" listing. Notes: I switched the adapter bracket material to 1018 CR steel. This allowed me to meet my original price target. Staying with 4140 would have increased cost by ~$40 The factor of safety on the part is still 2.1 point

Sorry to hear that. We had an ice storm in Oregon and lost power for 5 days. I ran a generator and extension cords to power the fridge, a space heater, and a lamp. Never again. Wasn't brave enough to try wiring it into the panel. Luckily, I have an electrician coming to wire a plug and interlock switch so that I can power the furnace and other essentials next time. Good on you for helping your neighbors. I tried but the only thing they'd accept is a charge on a cell phone and kindle1 point

I don't know the weight distribution of my old SCX, but as shown in the pic they would definitely turn. Pulled the ABS fuse as FWD really didn't like trail braking. About ABS'd into the trees a few times. eta-If running 335's on the front of an STS I would suggest a large power steering cooler. Very large.1 point

Just trying to help make this sweet thing we have even better! We may have a few things up our sleeve in regards to this championship too.1 point

And so would the Turpitz if weight is taken out of it.1 point

Take some weight out and run 335s. With the proper setup it'll turn.1 point

Thanks to @Money Shift Racing Kevyn and Chris for supporting the series, and now racing in it too.1 point

Thanks!! I guess good ducting into the radiator and then hood vents goes a long way. Will make some nice carbon fiber ducting1 point

It's not that we don't want you too, it's that when we got setup with the new radios they were coded for us. We don't even have the ability to look at how to tell you to scan it. Plus, keep in mind, you're only listening to us talking to ChampCar staff on pit-lane. The communication to the corner workers if handled differently at each track, sometimes the tracks use their own radio system, sometimes they hire a contractor with radios, some tracks have a closed circuit system, each one is different and we have no ability to affect that. If you can figure out how to scan us on pit la1 point

As far as I understand, they will not list the tires at all when they are not in stock. I've yet to call TR direct to get feedback on timing of the 2021 stock. I snagged 2sets in October last year before they disappeared...1 point

If we make it to Daytona, I'll see if we can find you. My 16 year old will likely be driving. It's his 3rd season (hint, do the math on when he started). He could likely give you some insight about what its like to get to play in a very 'adult' sport when most of the people there are old enough to be your parents. Get to the track in any capacity you have. Just offer up your efforts and you'll find people to accept you. Might take a few tries to find the group you fit with, but there is no substitute for just absorbing and leaching knowledge off a team that has done1 point

Toss them or take them off and reuse the metal for other parts. We removed them on all four corners a long time back and if you need ducting there are much better options for that function.1 point

It should be possible to mine the data ChampCar already has to discover what swapped cars have been raced over the years. Give those a swapped VPI, and do away with the calculator except to tech to use as one part of assigning a swapped VPI. If a team wants to race a swap not on the list it's up to them to apply for a VPI, just like we require now for any car not on the VPI list.1 point
-
I believe this could sell out pretty fast1 point
-
Will take a 5.3 LS with points left over, starting VPI at 400 points, while the same year Monte Carlo gets ten laps with a 4.8..... Put the same 5.3 in as the Supra will swallow and the MC is 935 points. While still having a crap suspension and needing 25 points for a trans. That is the crap that ticks people off. Miata's are about the only other that comes to mind as competitive non swapped. Generally if someone puts in the work to do a swap it's because their junk is slow with no hope of being fast without one.1 point

Sounds like @enginerd and @Bandit have some work to do in the next 10 days. Petitions are due on the 28th. I bet thats enough time for you guys to come up with a list of all currently used swap combos and assign them a VPI.1 point

Moved the trailer today and brought the car back from the dyno tuning only to get it buried in the large mounds of snow. Unhooked and maybe in a few days I'll be able to try to move it, spring is coming right???? Snow is over the fender wells, could be a problem.0 points
