  1. I raced there in 19 spring race. I have not spent any time in the northern latitudes for more than twenty years with a lot of time in Equatorial Africa. I had nothing for Cheeser land, a excuse me Wisconsin. I watched Nat’s team working and racing in the cold like it was a summer day. I was paralyzed by the cold. Teeth chattering, numb face, feet and fingers aching. It was brutal. I had nothing for the cold. My wife packed a few coats and an old fatigue heavy Jacket. None of it was warm enough. Best of luck and be prepared.

  2. Yep, that was done for a sprint race overall win. It was between the rusty cougar and a camaro. Rusty cougar got the jump and had a good 1 second or so lead when they went out of view into (old) turn 10. The camaro came out in the lead. The cougar pushed too hard and blew the braking zone. Camaro won it. It was the most glorious thing I have ever seen. (Although I was rooting for the cougar). We also did qualifying for that race by fast lap on the go kart track on Friday evening.

  3. I was just gonna use my existing analog sensors and just strip the connectors off. I will look into that once i "buy into" the system (if it is everytging i hope it will be). Otherwise, look for the for sale post in 2 months...

  4. This was before the new rule change in 16. That car was literally pulled from a field in Pa. field. No PHR. Tq. Arm or good shocks and a Fox platform. It was not fun to drive, at first. A quality team and a car from another Era. I miss that car.

  5. Still think it should have been Parc Ferme....would have made this a lot simpler for all involved.

  6. Also as a slower car driver, I don't mind the occasional flash, but the constant flashing gets old quick. That's only happened once that I can think of (RA 2019) but someone was racing around the track much faster than I was (shocking, I know) and basically continuously flashing his light bar. On the plus side, I saw him coming half a lap away - on the minus side, it's hugely distracting to add a (completely unenforced) rule-breaking brightness lightbar on strobe to the nose, and I'd already switched to ignoring my rearview by the time he caught up to me because I didn't need holes in my vision. Two or three flashes is fine and/or helpful. More than that is a dick move.

  7. One lap shootout with a drag start at the line? Actually, it seems like something like that was done once at Pitt.... Don't recall the particulars.

  8. So what you're saying is on Sunday we just need to go ahead and send it.

  9. Maybe you guys have an answer to this, but what makes Sunday a better tie breaker than Saturday? Maybe an alternative proposal would be highest finish of those tied? If somebody had a 2nd and a 2nd and were tied with a team with a 1st and a 3rd maybe the team with the win takes the tie?

  10. tackled a couple items on the short prep list for Road America adjusted cold start in megasquirt flushed out winter antifreeze (blame me if it is cold enough they let us add some antifreeze) bought spare rotors re-installed fire bottle secured battery Car hasn't turned laps since 2019 thanks to Covid, might take a second to remember the shift pattern. Is reverse back and to the right or forward and to the left????

  11. I'll suggest using combined laps for the weekend as the first tiebreaker, although there is a reasonable chance that doesn't break a lot of ties it's still logical to look at that before going to prior race results.

  13. I should have kept this one too. Man I miss this car.

  14. Haven’t watched the drivers meeting... what you describe would be incredibly stupid, so that’s how I know there won’t be MOV. Because it would be incredibly stupid... it won’t happen.
    1 point
  15. What makes you think there won't be MOV here? From the driver's meeting it seems like they are intent on running this race like any other except the starting order and who goes to impound.

  16. i think running it in a warm climate would have also been simpler.. but here we are. LOL *goes searching thru my closet for a coat*

  17. I think Dana knew guys were coming from Mississippi and Alabama and Florida and we wouldn’t know what those big words mean that you snooty Yankee boys use.

  18. Camaro vs Cougar IIRC. I have run every Pitt event since like 2016, but this was early than that. Bruce vs the Tigers Wood PGA guys. A few years later, the start of the Sunday WGI race was determined by a drag race down pit lane.

  19. Check out their new AnalogX and cables, makes connecting sensors very easy. Similar to how AiM does it. However will probably cost you $300 or so.

  21. If you race a car with 787 on the door, the ceramic apex seals fit, I believe that may have been the first time ceramic seals were used. The highish price, I got a smoking deal, was paid 5 years ago so there I no good reason to let them continue to gather dust.

  22. Combined laps, or Sundays finish would be OK with me. Using "season rank" means this is not a winner take all event, so I don't like that.

  23. You see, I'm getting to that age where I'm finding I just have to start paying for things and letting it go. It's a difficult mental transition from "I can and will do everything and anything and everyone is a sucker!" mentality. - Also, for context, I took my nice stock street car s2000 to summit point and on the last session of the weekend looked in my rearview to see a cloud of blue smoke behind me... So I need to figure that motor out. Still pissed at myself for that. - Oh yeah and I went from being a DINK to having twins.... So I went from working on cars all weekend and night to now I have to sneak to the garage for a few hours and even that gets me side eye. While I very much wonder about this answer, my general feeling with all the crazy rx7 stuff rx7 teams is that its all a bit don't ask don't tell. But maybe I have that wrong

  27. Good race weekend for the On Second Thought 341 Miata. Friday test day was spent trying to figure out a new setup on the car. Had some “interesting” handling throughout the day. Finished the day with our best setup, still not great or happy with it. During checks at the end of the day we found a loose/bad tie rod on the LF. Changed that, alignment and went a little blind into the first stint Sat. Started Sat and found out quick that the tie rod was contributing to our handling issues on Fri. Unfortunately the setup Friday without active toe didn’t leave us the best handling balance. I muscled through the first 2hrs with a car that seemed to be loose almost everywhere. First stop we did a bar change which helped rope the car back in to somewhat normal characteristics. The rest of the day went off without a hitch. We finished 10th overall. No changes to the car between Sat/Sun. Sunday was uneventful for the car, clicked off laps without issues. I was in the car from 10:30-12:30. I had some good back and forth with the Maximum Effort, HoundDogs, TAG teams. I got a little caught up in the back and forth one time going into 18. 3 wide into braking zone there isn’t recommended. Glad the ME and other guys saw me coming and left some room! Great driving by all of them! Finished again in 10th for the day. Good weekend with some great racing. Perfect weather which was a welcomed change from out last two races at Road Atlanta and Barber. Congrats the the WTF guys! Very clean car! In looking at your car in impound it left me scratching my head as to how we have similar equipment but we were not even in the same league for performance! Hell of a car you guys have there! NCM really gives you a workout! Seems like you are always doing something in the car, and many of the turns are so close together there isn’t time to “relax”. Have a some time off before it next race at Mid Ohio to do some changes/improvements to the car.

  28. As a slower car I know cars will be coming up on me and I will 99 times out of 100 hold my line, the other time is when I have plenty of time and space to let the faster car(s) through without slowing them up. If for some reason someone flashes me because they are clearly faster, I have zero issues with it. I saw you, you feel confident I saw you, everyone can rest easy for this pass. If I'm running the same lap time in my 318 as a guy in a Miata because he wants to pass, it doesn't bother me, he's still going to have to race me for the pass though.

  30. I will usually start out by turning the lights on. Lots of times that works awesome. If I am approaching your slower car at a fast rate, I may flash 3 or 4 times just to give you a heads up.
