    You are absolutely right.

In an ideal world the rule book would provide good equalization to disallow the advantages a team could purchase with a check book.  Unfortunately our current BCCR is not good in that regard.

The problem lies with a few select teams who don't have the respect for the sport and the other competitors to participate in a "spirit of the series" manner.

So Chris now this series has a spending limit ?   Anyone who spends more than you has no respect for you and everyone else ?    Not a very well thought out statement for a board member.

I registered and I'm awaiting the activation code.

If my team captain can't get me on the team roster in time will my membership allow me into the event on Saturday?

I don't actually drive the car, I'm the tech advisor/mechanic and I manage the pit operations.

The team car is an '86 Mustang SVO and I'm the owner of www.turboford.org and have been involved with these cars since 1999. I own two '86 SVOs and a '84 GT Turbo 'vert.

Thanks again for all the responses and the welcome!

Dont worry just go to registration and see Sue you'll be fine.  take a screen shot of your transaction and show her.

Thanks, and I appreciate the suggestions about lowering the seat.  But can anybody answer my first question, which is how exactly the clearance is measured to determine if you meet the ChampCar rules (especially when the center and side bars are higher than the main hoop)?

    Thanks again.

Might be a good idea to contact the Tech employees to get the official answer.

Just to set the record straight once again, Chris is not on the TAC and never has been. I have been but when I went on the board it was stated I would come off as soon as a replacement was identified. In the first board meeting the board decided to have me stay until the end of the year. I am sure it will be discussed again in the next meeting. I have offered up to come off now, I am happy to come off now.

Have you clicked on the  TAC banner lately and see who's name is at the top Roger ?  and do you need permission to vacate the position ?

Hello all! Rookie driver looking to get safety gear for first Champcar event.
Looking for any and all recommendations for a tall driver (6’10”). Unfortunately there are no race shops near me where I can try gear on.
As far as I know, I think I will need-

Fire suit (not sure of sizing), socks, gloves, racing shoes (size 15 or 16), cool shirt, balaclava

Also, is anybody familiar with any wide-soled racing shoes?

    Thank you all!

Discovery parts is a ChampCar sponsor and offers members a discount.  Very friendly and has a large inventory.

So tire petitions, and many words on these forums yielded no tire rule changes - unfortunate.
Well, use your own advice to all of us - keep coming on here and finding more things to write long complaint lists about - while we work to improve our cars!! 😄

Maybe if everyone who is complaining about rubber put the same effort into finding a marketing partner.....   They are right under your noses.   😂

Just quoting because it’s on the same topic and I’m echoing Jeff’s idea on perfection.

It is pretty unlikely that you will get all 4 changed and refuel within a 5 minute stop anyway so you may not even see the penalty!!

We changed tires 3 times at Watkins Glen with simple hand tools, fueled 15 gals, cleaned windshield, changed drivers in 4 minutes with a crew that  never worked  before  together on this car and first time fueler.  It can be done not a big deal if your organized.

MCM will not be at WGI.  The Board will entertain a path back for any team including MCM, but he will need to sell the Board on real change.  My personal stance is forget it, don't care if they ever come back and I made that clear.  But maybe he can sway enough of the Board to get another chance later on.  It would involve a probationary period, be at a track that is NOT Daytona, WGI, Indy, etc. It might involve a bond.  But the short answer he won't be at WGI, nor will his cars.  Two on the waitlist will get those spots.

Why is the team still listed on the entry has this changed ?

Drivers meetings or yelling marshalls, neither are the right way to address this. If you want fuel jugs on the ground until they are handed over the wall you need to write a rule that says so. If it's in the rule book then everyone will be on the same page, I also voted for the petition that the person handing the jugs over the wall should be in fireproof gear.

So now you need rules for common sense ?

I just searched "Tuttle" in the forum. Let's just ban them. They have been a thorn in our club for some time.  Big budget and cheats a lot.  Not the first time. Ban Tuttle for a year or more. MCM, Riley and Tuttle just go away. Our racing series should be much better off without them. $10k of there entry fees will not be missed. Our club management needs to start doing something or we will all get frustrated and go elsewhere. Two races two cheaters. Hope this isn't a trend. I guess I am like the hundred of racers here. Just keep racing my own race and let the cheaters pass us. What a shame they will ruin a good thing for us all. The few will make it harder for us to pass inspection because now Champ Car thinks all of us are cheating. Think of the extra time we dont have already during tech inspection. Lot of extra work for management to look for the cheating now too. You cheat your gone. Zero tolerance. Hope someone from the club is listening. It is going to 12 pages of complaints.

Anyone else you like to purge ?   How about banning teams that have a bigger motor home than yours or trailer.  Grow up dude, someone will always spend more than  you in this sport.  Other teams have already left because of  the attitude you have along with the other forum cry babies.  I'm sure two teams will still be entering races but pretty sure your other choice will not have their entry accepted.
