  1. Hello, I am looking for some aiv for a 1994 1.8 Miata that i am racing in tomorrow's chump race. I have five that i can share, do you have any to share or trade?   3. I'm gonna change this up from previous ad.... Up for sale is my 1992 Miata. Current SCCA racer, built down to ChumpCar specs SCCA Logbook. 1992 1.6L car. Built from a straight-tub street car by Schaut Speed Motorsports in 2008-2009. Have campaigned the car in Spec Miata at Regional and National events over previous 4 years. Excellent cage work by Angry Sheep Motorsports (~$2500 cage). Strong, safe and done to increase chassis stiffness. $5000 Includes: Stock motor Viscous limited slip diff Stock radiator stock intake Stock exhaust manifold down to a straight-through style exhaust up-to-date window net and belts (window net provides ChumpCar-level coverage) Sparco REV seat, hard-mounted Momo steering wheel Older koni non-adjustable dampers with unknown springs (came on the car when purchased, supposedly matched to dampers) Stock sway bars newer bearings all around (right rear brand new) long quick-nose wheel studs 6 D-force wheels with used Hoosier SM6 tires recently rebuilt calipers Hand-held fire extinguisher 5-panel wink mirror Fresh alignment Comes with fresh Cobalt Friction brakes front and rear and a few spare sets. Amsoil engine oil, Redline MTL and LSD fluids. wired to pull RPM for data acq.   4. This is a 1990 Miata race car with 12 Chump and Lemons races in the past 2 years. We were running 10/42 cars at TMS 3 weeks ago when the motor blew with 40 minutes to go in the Sunday race. This car needs a 1.6 (or 1.8) motor that can be had on Craigslist for $350-450 and it will be back on the track running like it has faultlessly for 2 years. I have the Chump log book since 2011, also have the AIVs that qualify this car for Chump races--it also qualifies for Lemons. It needs nothing else but a motor to run in both series. Here is a list of stuff on/in the car that a buyer won't have to spend money on: Kirkey Racing Seat--$200 New rear CV axles--$180 carbotech racing pads--$350 Brembo rotors--$100 Quik release steering wheel--$80 Roof (required by Chump)-- Resent struts--$280 Cut springs-- Fresh 4 wheel alignment--$100 Limited slip diff--$200 Good trans--$200 Good clutch--$170 6 point roll cage--$1600 Fresh seat harness--$200 All gauges work.-- There are other things I've done as on going maintenance. This car only needs a motor. I've already bought another Miata (1.8) so this one needs to go to someone who wants to get into this fun, safe and cheap racing for a really low up front cost.   6. hey chumps! I bought a 1996 Miata to "flip" from the dealer I work for and it has the SRS light on. According the former Mazda tech I work beside, a solid light means bad connection at module or defective module. Checked connection and pins look clean. Anybody keep there SRS control module when cleaning out there Miata? The more cost effective the better. Thanks

  8. Black Perl Racing (formerly Team WingIt) is looking for 2 more drivers to fill our team of 4 for Road America, The long and winding road on April 20-21. Car's Finish history April 2012 RA double 7 Sat: 33rd DNF – Blew new clutch 4.5 hours in. Had replacement in shortly after checkered flag Sun:19th Oct. 2012 RA double 7 Sat:14th of 61 Sun: 21st of 54 -- learned can’t run 2 double 7s on a single set of PFC97 front pads. Pushed a piston through the pad backer with 1 hr to go. Got a new caliper installed, bled and back on track within 30 mins. A&D price $800 which includes the car prepped and at the track, fuel, tires, consumables, and entry fees. Does not include travel expense, lodging or meals although snacks and drinks will be available at the track.

  10. We are getting close to finishing up our 96 Miata and looking to fill the seats. The car will be available for the VIR event and Watkins Glen. The price varies per event but we will make it as all inclusive as possible, even down to bringing a grill and food to the track and have as much fun with it as possible. We are a new team as far as ChumpCar goes, but not new to racing or building cars so we feel we should have a strong car right out of the box. If you are interested, or want more details let me know.   13. Figured I would help enable some of the addicts here before I throw it Craigslist. For sale is a salvage title 1992 Miata I bought two years ago with the intention of doing something that I've now forgotten. Would be a good donor for someone looking to do LeMons, ChumpCar or the Grassroots $2013 Challenge. Car has been stored indoors since I've owned it and was stored indoors at the salvage yard I bought it from (http://www.strickerbros.com, which is a pretty fancy place and definitely not your typical junk yard). Car has 168,xxx miles, is a 5-speed manual, and has plenty of things you could sell to get down to the $500 limit, such as power windows, power steering, a/c, cruise control, tan leather seats, chrome door sills, Nardi wood shift knob, wood e-brake handle, and trunk luggage rack. Car does have typical rust in front of the rear wheels and the glass window in the soft top has collapsed, but could be made water tight with some plastic and duct tape. Let me know if you want more pictures of specific areas. From what I can tell, the car failed to stop in time and rear ended a vehicle with a trailer hitch and ball at about 10 mph. The airbag did not deploy. Since it is a '92, the insurance company totaled the car and the salvage yard bought it and sold it to me as a "repairable" vehicle. The hitch and ball damaged the front bumper and then wedged itself between the bumper and the hood, pushing the radiator core support back a few inches. The 1.6L engine runs (albeit with a lot of HLA noise), but only leaks coolant from the damaged radiator. The car drives and stops straight (up and down my driveway) and appears to have been well maintained before it was wrecked. Off the top of my head, the car needs a new/used radiator, the fluids flushed, brakes checked and the radiator core support bent/pulled back into place before it's good enough to have the cage installed and go racing. NOTE: The car will need to be towed and is not street legal due to the salvage title, which I have in hand and ready to sign over to the new owner. I'm in Cincinnati, Ohio and I am flexible on the price.

  16. I have a chance to buy a Miata for $500 that I'd like to turn into a ChumpCar. Now I know the rule of thumb - there are no $500 Miatas. The seller's price is $500 firm. Is this car crappy enough to qualify? 1991 Miata 195,000 miles on original drive train. The car was rear ended last year and pushed into the car in front of it. Damage: Rear of car: Crunched. Some of damage could be hammered/pulled out. Trunk lid: Destroyed Tail lights: Smashed Differential: Impact broke one of the diff mounting tabs, diff must be replaced. Hood: Bent but could be hammered and made usable. Headlights and mechanism: Killed on impact. Radiator: Killed on impact. Title: Salvage The top on the car is in good shape. At $500 for the car, I could sell the top and the interior. I might raise enough cash to buy a junkyard diff, radiator and trunk lid. If I run day races, I can make do without headlights. What do you think? Is it Chump material?
