  3. My employee just lost her car to a bad transmission. She needs to sell it to raise the money to buy another. Unfortunately over the past few years she has dumped plenty of money in the car. There is a stack of receipts. In the past few months alone she put new brakes and a new alternator on the poor thing. She has it listed on Craigslist for about 1200 but she knows she is dreaming. I think she will take 700 and for that it would make a great parts car or the start to a racer. It has the 3.2 Vtec V6. I don't know much about these cars but I figure that might make a good swap into something. Please be nice. She is a good employee. https://cfl.craigslist.org/cto/d/acura-tl-32-4-door-1250-obo/6471980685.html

  9. Hi all, As mentioned in the title. Has anyone ever used a Sickspeed oil cooler kit or the oil filter re-locater? http://www.amazon.com/Aluminum-Engine-Transmission-Racing-Relocation/dp/B00Y5L5UUU?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_1&smid=A3GBTFY35FDAQ I am very limited with space on the back of the block and this setup would work well. I just don't know about the quality. I had bought the Mishimoto kit, but the sandwich plate won't fit. Any input is appreciated. Thanks, Steve
  10. FREE 1990 Honda CRX Chassis and ZC SOHC/Dual Point engine Car is located in Tacoma, WA Here's the non-rolling chassis and engine of a Honda CRX available to anyone who may abe able to use it. It will be available for a few weeks, then it will be scrapped unless someone wants it. The car was obtained as a parts car and I have stripped off all the parts from it that I needed/wanted. Below is a PARTIAL list of what is left on the car and what isn't to give you an idea of what state the car is in. The car title is available, and is listed as a salvaged vehicle. The Carfax and VinCheck reports are also available. As far as the car condition, it looks good to me. Chassis seems straight, and it doesn't look like it has has major damage. The title says totaled, but a car this old could have a small fender bender that totaled it as far as insurance is concerned. The engine and transmission I was told was running before the car was no longer used anymore. Whats left ========== Chassis Engine and Transmission Front fenders Rear Hatch Rear Glass Taillights Cabin Wiring Sunroof Glass Windsheild Carpet Door cards Cargo Tray Exhaust What was taken off ================== All suspension components All brake components minus booster & master cylinder Pedal assembly Cluster Wiring harness Front and rear bumpers Doors Axles Seats Dashboard Fuel tank & pump Wiper motor Wheels Mirrors Hood

  13. We appeared at our first ever Chump Race this past weekend at Road America and blew our one and only engine in our car 2 hours into the first race. Hard lesson learned but we were wanting to know if, by chance, any local/regional Chumpsters know a guy/gal who specializes in Honda engine rebuilds? Ours is a D16Y8. #3 cylinder rod bearing disintegrated. I can travel a few hours in all directions which gets me from Indy, Cleveland, Cinci, Louisville, Detroit, and even Pittsburg. Now we know to beef up the cooling and lubrication system instead of running pure stock, lol. Thanks
  14. Hi Chumps, Looking to run a 97 Civic Ex. According to the rules, it is a 375pt car, which gives us some room to upgrade. I'm not 100% familiar with the rules yet, so I thought I would ask here. I'm a newbie, so please be patient. Questions: The car I'm looking to buy has some work done to it. It has a coilover kit and camber plates. Do these fall in the 2x rule? The car has an aftermarket exhaust. Are they allowed? What is the point penalty for adding a turbo kit? Thanks!
  15. ITA honda civic ex, asking $1,900 OBO - strong stock engine - stock transmission - kirkey racing seat - bolt in cage(autopower) - Koni yellows w/ eibach springs (not sure what rates) - upgraded rear sway bar(nuespeed i think) - hawk blue brake pads - Transponder IS included - comes with SCCA log book wheels: 4 - 14" honda rims with hoosier dirt stockers(old, but i've used them in the rain if necessary) 4 - 14x7 panasports w/ hankook c51's (new this year, lots of life left) spares: - 2 spare engines - hawk pads, 2 sets - intake manifold - trailing arms - break booster and master cylinder - hubs and bearings - alternator - spare stock rebuilt transmission - large plastic tub of other various parts This car was originally a HART car raced in showroom stock, and was later converted to ITA. This would be a great starting point for anyone looking to get into racing, car is reliable and easy to drive. would need updated belts and window net to race. The car can be painted back to a single color scheme, or the paint can come with the car. any questions please email murray.glenn@gmail.com
  16. Since rules and valuation seem to be ever changing during the 3-year rule freeze, First I was planning turbo, oh wait bend over turbo teams... Then swapping to later generation motor (modest 20hp gain up to a whole 130hp). Lately was thinking about doing something fun with a V8 and a spare tub I recently acquired but am seeing serveral how-to's for V6 swaps that are even easier. The Honda J-series 3.5l or 3.2l V6's found all over the place with an IN value that should come in well under $200. Probably closer to $150, either way, way under my OUT value. Swap math says ECU is direct exchange, and from all those that have done before, I can still choose use my factory trans/diff (which I have a pile of) Only thing i need to fabricate are engine mounts and an engine/trans adapter plate both of which could be purchased, but why. On to the real question, I am not extremely familiar with the J-series, but am leaning towards assuming that they are pretty resilient since there are over 65 pages of them on car-part, and they are cheap mean more supply than demand. HP/Torque numbers. Any advice or tips from Honda guys who are more familiar with this engine than I? Are they pretty bullet proof, or do they turn to mush in race conditions.
  17. Hi just wondering if anyone has interest in a 1993 Acura Integra GSR. Has the original engine running well. 1.7L VTEC. The interior is completely stripped except the dashboard. No rust on the body. Starts and runs well. Fun, light fast car. Nice suspension in it. Would need brakes, tires, racing seat, fire system for Chumpcar among other stuff I'm sure. Nice car to start with for a chumpcar. Located in Bowmanville Ontario, 45mins east of Toronto. 288,000 original miles, never raced but that was the plan 2 years ago. 2 kids later no time to work on it. $2000 or best offer. And incase you don't want to race it, power windows, power sunroof etc...

I removed the rear adjustable shocks, and now will have 1 or zero penalty laps.

  20. I have a 1991 Acura Integra race car for sale. Can run in ITA or Honda Challenge as is, or could be a perfect chump car. The car started out as an ITA car for a season, then did Honda Challenge for a season. I quit racing it due no funds and just ran a few driving schools, and hoped to chump it one day. It has the 1.75" diameter GT cage with nascar style door bars on driver side. Cage was installed by KC Raceware in Kansas City, MO, and is SCCA/NASA legal. Here is a short list of mods: Brand new M&R 5-point harness (3" belts w/ cam lock) Corbeau seat (passenger OEM seat included also) Window net Koni yellow shocks H&R race springs (just springs, not ride height adjustable) SS rear anti-roll bar precision chromally CV drive axles from Driveshaft Shop Team Dynamics 15x7 wheels ARP wheel studs Brembo OE replacement rotors Carbotech brake pads Custom exhaust w/ turbo muffler & Cat delete (stock header) Energy suspension full vehicle urethane bushing kit B&M short shift Cold air intake Other than above, the car is stock. You will likely get some penalty laps for the suspension but from what I have heard its worth it. Here are a few pics. I have more if interested. http://www.flickr.com/photos/100388986@N03/9525677481 http://www.flickr.com/photos/100388986@N03/9525680365 http://www.flickr.com/photos/100388986@N03/9528470140 http://www.flickr.com/photos/100388986@N03/9528472516 Asking $3000 OBO The car is located in San Angelo, TX I would prefer the buyer come pick up the car, but I could trailer it to Dallas, San Antonio, Houston, Austin etc. if you pay a small deposit for gas. Shipping can be arranged at buyers expense but I would prefer buyer to view car in person before purchasing. I also have 5 new sets of Goodyear Eagle RS tires for $100 each. They are from the latest production run. Tires are competitive and tend to have more stick at the end of the race which promotes passing for the win in the last few laps. Not legal for chump but just thought I would mention. Call or email if interested Thanks, Stuart 830-261-1979 10integra@gmail.com
  21. I'm consider acquiring a mostly built '92 Prelude. The body is technically a base model/S. The current owner has swapped in a F23A1 engine from a Acura CL (150hp) with the factory ECU/harness. The transmission is out of a VTEC/SR-V. The rules state the values are as follows: Prelude / S - $300 Si /SE - $400 Si H23 - $450 VTEC - $600 As for swapping out components, price-wise a quick search suggests the F23A1 engine is as follows: F22A1 < F23A1 H23A1 > F23A1 H22A1 > F23A1 Depending on how the car was considered I could see the engine being a $50 surcharge for a lesser value engine. Thoughts? I'm not sure what to say about the transmission. Would it knock the car of contention?
  22. With the growing demand for rentals, the requirement of a roof to run regionals, and lack of shop space, we've decided to sell our topless Honda Civic and start a new build. I'd prefer to see the chassis/cage go to someone who'd appreciate it and enjoy ChumpCar, rather than cut it up and use for scrap metal.. That being said, the car will be available in a few different configurations, depending on your build appetite, parts, and/or budget. This car was built in 2012 and has run 6 ChumpCar races as a rental throughout the '12-'13 seasons with a few different engine, suspension and brake setups as we developed a competitive package. The most recent race was Mosport in October where it was running top5 before an extended pit stop to fix a taillight wiring issue. Only minor dents & scratches around the car as well as Canadian weight reduction (rust), never crashed. Shell with Cage - $700 Comes as chassis, bodywork, cage, dash & cluster, tank, window nets. Base Roller - $1,500 Includes Civic suspension, Tein springs w/ factory shocks, 15/6.5 wheels w/ used Falkens. Roller w/o Engine - $2,500 Base roller + rear disc conversion, all brakes w/ Hawk pads, used Momo wheel, extinguisher (2012 spec), battery box & kill switch Entry Chump - $4,000+ Includes d-series engine (120,000km) with D series manual trans, seat & harness 2014 'Team spec' - $8,000+ Matching our latest parts & setup, 2014 compliant, race ready with 2 sets of wheels and a practice day at Calabogie. Too many parts/options to list, call me for details. PM, email, or call me anytime to discuss - additional details and photos available. The car is currently at our shop at Calabogie Motorsports Park for any local guys interested in seeing it up close. Travis Hill c. 613-371-2838 e. travishillracing@gmail.com

  24. Hello chumps, I have talked to a few people and still unsure about the car I want to use for racing. I had my mind set on Honda for cheapness, lots of parts, reliability etc. I liked the Honda Prelude with the H22 engine. I have a question, from what I see in the rules an H22 Prelude is a $650 car? So I would be starting with approx. 13 laps of penalties? Is this true if I have a base prelude with the swapped H22 engine? I can't believe an old prelude with a 4cyl engine would be penalized? So if I'm reading it right what other car would you recommend that doesn't rack up penalty laps? Thanks, Newbie.
  25. I am looking to get in touch with owners/drivers of Car 38, Honda Prelude. I would like your feedback and overall impression of the Honda. As well, any tips/suggestions for this car. I have a 3rd Gen Prelude. It has been sitting for several years, all pieces are there but motor is over there, transmission is over here, well you get the idea. Anyway, I would like to "talk" to you about your Chumpcar. Thanks, Tom Phillips
