  7. I might not be doing this right, but here goes nothing. I know this will be different for the different vehicles that can be used, so if anyone has specific experience with the vehicle I am using, please chime in. I am looking into doing the chumpcar thing. Here is what I have right now. I have a 1983 Mazda RX7 (12a) that has been run in SCCA. I didn't like the bolt in cage, so, assuming I decide to proceed with this, I will be taking the car to Charlie Clark (KC Raceware) to have a cage installed. With that being said, how much does a chump weekend cost? For conversation sake, lets just not include the initial investment of getting the car ready (adopting the if you build it they "drivers" will come mentality). Can anyone tell me how much fuel should I plan on using for lets say a weekend consisting of (2) 8-hour races? Assuming no catastrophies (dreaming big, that's how I live) what parts on the cars would need to be replaced through the course of a weekend....brake pads, rotors, tires? Just trying to get an idea if the chump thing is even a feasible idea. I understand racing is expensive. I totally get that. I know I could take the car and go pay little money and do an SCCA auto-x......but I don't want to do an auto-x. I understand all the options before me, but I already have the car (albeit, currently without cage) so I am trying to plan my next move. Thanks for any insight

  9. Got around $2500 in it and would like to break even but... I bought this a couple years ago with the intention of racing in the ChumpCar series but ran out of time to work on it having young children. I did all the work you see below and took it to one track day up in Michigan at the Gingerman road course. I drove it 3 hours up there and ran it all day with no problems and then drove it all the way home. It was great in the corners and the brakes worked awesome. It's pretty quick and there's a lot you can do to make the 13b motor even more powerful. Smooth all the way up to 7,000 RPM!Nitto NT05 tires with only one track day on themNo interior except for driver/passenger seat and gauge cluster No door glassBrand new coilovers and camber plate Adjustable camber rod in rear Comes with full cage legal for 24hrs of Lemons or Chump Comes with a brand new never installed racing seat Has the stock big brake set up Hawk Blue blue pads with only one track day on themTransmission shifts great and has all gears Motor runs great Clutch grabs great Exhaust is straight pipe so it's a bit loud (nice rappy sound)New racing steering wheel installed New brake lines, master cyl, slave cyl, clutch masterNew fuel lines New racing fluids all around, engine oil, transmission, rear gear and brakesStock limited slip differentialK&N filter in stock cold air system. No power steering (removed to save weight) Floor has some rust but overall very rigid. Rusted through in one spot where water was allowed to sit when outside for a while. Frame is solid. Moon roof has been removed but comes with it. Flip up lights work and all signals, wipers etc..It's plated and road legalVideohttps://youtu.be/qYZ_R2LXcMo

  12. Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/speedwaycreations Car Owner: Justin DeVane Background: I raced dirt oval karts since 1996 with my dad. In 2012 we began building our Mazda RX7 ChumpCar and entered our first race at Road Atlanta in 2013. I have participated in the 24 hours of VIR (The Classic) since 2012 with our sister team, the Rotary Rotards and also recently completed the 14 Hours of Road Atlanta in 2015 which resulted in a win in the newly formed Class "B". I have entered and race a total of 12 ChumpCar events since August 2012 and also volunteered at multiple events. Our car was build so that my dad and I could share the enjoyment of our favorite hobby, without the expense and hassle of maintaining multiple cars. Speedway Creations Racing entered and completed its first race in February 2013 at Road Atlanta. Since that first race, the father and son team have fielded the #84 Mazda Rx7 at other circuits such as Daytona, Sebring and Atlanta Motorsports Park. The car has logged now over 6,000 race miles and was built to survive the punishment of endurance racing. Planned 2015 ChumpCar Schedule May - Daytona August - Barber Motorsports Park September - Sebring October - Atlanta Motorsports Park (AMP)
