I'd love to see some footage from Thunderhill.

Start posting up links here.

Also, if anyone has any video of the #707 red 325i convertible meeting it's demise about an hour and a half from the end of Saturday in turn 14/15 I would like to see that.

Thanks!

Sorry to hear about your car. Salvageable?

Overall I was impressed by the quality of driving and the lack of major incidents. Thanks to the ChumpCar staff and volunteers for a great event.

Here's a few minutes from my stint around 1pm on Saturday.

Nose is off of it already. Looking for a donor car, which we were doing already anyway. Radiator jammed back into fan. Fan stopped spinning. Radiator broken. Nose is pushed back a couple of inches and over a couple of inches. Not sure what else we are going to find as we take it apart. Looks like the shifter may have moved a little bit. it was kind of a hard hit. The RX7 that put itself sideways directly in front of us was pretty screwed up too.

Just a reminder to everyone…when you go off the track, stay off the track until you regain control. Don't try to over-correct back onto the track. You will likely ruin your day and someone else's. This is probably going to ruin our entry to Buttonwillow 24 as well. Not sure if we can get it fixed in time.

That's racin'. But we had been doing well up until then. Great racing on a great track with a brand new car built by a first time car builder. And three true rookie drivers. Rookies to w2w of any sort. And they all did great. And had a blast. Two of them are already talking about building their own cars now and the owner of this car wants to build a second car already. Sooooo, our feelings must not be hurt too much.

Thanks to all the Chump staff and especially Cathy for always making these events so good.

I also thought the driving was outstanding, with a very few exceptions. Seems way different than some of the other races I've read about on the forum.

I'll say it again…Thunderhill is a stellar facility with excellent people. I'm glad to hear there are negotiations to go back there already. I was trying to convince you all to put this track on your schedule when it was announced we would be going there. It was cool to see so many of you there. If you didn't go, you should really try to put it on your schedule for next year. You won't be disappointed.

We have most of saturday from our car up already.

Here is a fun clip, steering wheel comes off:

When does the steering wheel come off?

Mine did too, strangely enough. Right at the top of the main straight coming out of 15. That was a thrill. I hope the camera was still running. Once I caught my breath I laughed like a maniac for about a lap. Just happy to still moving forward with steering capabilities I guess.

Any recommendations?

for windows we use avidemux to stitch together and crop gopro vids. http://fixounet.free.fr/avidemux/ and Racerender for race videos with data overlay and rear camera. Avidimux is free racerender is like $25. Mac I have used iMovie, Final Cut Pro x and gopro studio all have their pluses and minuses, avidimux is the easiest and quickest for just simple stuff.

Poor guy! First time racing with you guys and his wheel falls off!

I meant to say something in the other Thunderhill thread but the subject seems to be fully focused on engine swaps now. Thanks for hosting me during the race. It was very enjoyable pitting with you guys and I was impressed with how organized and though out your operation is. Good luck and if you are ever looking for another drive hit me up I would love to race with you guys.

Hard to find time to edit w/ the kids around, but here's video from the first stint on Friday:

I owe a big apology to the Focus team for my massive lockup.  Glad we hit side to side - hope everything was ok on your car.  I tried to come find you that evening but you were already gone.

Haha, thanks for posting that.  I'm sure Oszkar will like to see the footage, he was driving at the time.  Here's the dent: https://www.facebook.com/ChumpCarWorldSeries/photos/pcb.10152342544907346/10152342544047346/?type=1&theater

We pushed the door back out pretty easily that night.  I've had near misses doing that myself, so no hard feelings.
