Four laps from the taxi Sunday morning, including our fast lap, I believe the 2nd fastest overall, 1:20.591 (the first lap) followed by a pair of 1:21 flats.  Super fun times until we went down a cylinder and drove on five the rest of Sunday.  Note the last seconds of the video where the 444 gets pushed over a bit, opening a nice door.  ;)

This is a video of the Sunday morning warm up lap and the first green lap from the back camera of the Tiger's Wood #72 1985 Mercury Cougar.  This was actually setup to debut the new car named Team Cougar #351 in tribute to the Bud Moore - Trans-Am campaign in the late 1960s.

Will post again when my usual highlights and lowlights vids are ready.  Hopefully the rusty cougar will post more vids, as our car is apparently scared of it (I spun in front of them, twice!).

I am going to try to get more videos up tonight.  Any idea of the times that your car decided to leave the track rather than run the risk of getting tetanus from our rust bucket?

Thanks csx, the first was at T7, right about 40 min into the race on Saturday (~9:35-9:40am).  Second was later in the day, at T1, right around 2pm.  Here they are from our angle:

I actually have some vid of your new/old cougar as well, will clip it and post soon.  That thing seems to handle WAY to well for such an old beast.

I remember that last lap very well. You guys were real fast until that cylinder went down. We were really close on speed, our fast lap was a 121.3 Apparently I chose the wrong line on the 300.lol Oh well, I'm looking forward to more of that at the Glen!

That would be awesome if you have video of the '69 cougar.  We stayed up all night Thursday just trying to get that thing close to being a running car to bring along.  Our one teammate has been getting up a 4 in the morning and working on it till after midnight, after turning wrenches all day for a living for the past few months as well.  Needless to say installing a camera was low on the priority list.  Any video you have would be great.  It did seem to have decent grip.  However it is a handful and in tight traffic it may interesting to say the least.

What's with the carpet on the rear deck?

If you have me on saturday trying to give you a pass and going off track because I was too focused on my rearview, please don't tell my teammates. :)

Later Saturday morning video.  Our H-pipe had come apart by this point so she is a touch on the loud side.

Damn that thing is fast...

What happened at the end of the race on Sunday? I looked near the end and you guys were up by 4-5 laps, then finished in 2nd place on the same lap...

It was from our Anti-EPA Lemons theme from a few years ago.  It looks like it may be time to get rid of it before it comes off and Chump has a reason to throw a NASCAR style "debris" caution flag to get Jimmie Johnson back in the lead.

We picked up a leak in the radiator with about 2 hours to go.  We had to make a two stops for water in the last hour or so.

Not all pretty, but here is a clip of me in my neon racing against the shumacher taxi BMW mid day Sat. We battled a few times and had a blast. The staff was a little black flag happy early in the event, but I have to hand it to them for letting us race it out provided we could keep the fenders clean. Good show down between heavier car, more power vs lighter car, low power. The BMW driver found me later and told me how impressed he was with the neon, and how much fun it was to have a guy to race hard with. Very classy move. This is only my 3rd event, and with teams like this I see alot more events in my future.

I may need more power though.....

I think that's John, he left a lot on the table from turn 1 through 5 and a little in the lightbulb.   We are going through the data to pick that time up for him.  Fun watching our car for that long.  :)

Nice driving- nothing wrong with the move in T-5, he just stayed right to make it more difficult on track out, but you set that up nicely.  Coming into T-1 once you were in front- you should have stayed to the right to take the inside away- make him stay wide in a turn that he's slower in.

If it was John driving tell him i had a great time. Looking foward to summit.

Good advice on defending inside line in t1. I struggled with that because the rear mirror was uselessly pointed at a cage tube so i couldnt see him coming. Day 2 we mounted a big mirror, so now i will look for that.

Chumpcar is great for newbies like me. This is only my 3rd time racing wheel to wheel in a car. Scca and their track day experence requirements were cost prohibative for a 30 year old getting started. Placing 3rd was just a bonus.

Tell animal i was cursing his goofy face.. getting taunted by a muppet is hard to take!

Yeah, in a slower car you need to always take the corner away from the faster car.  Make them drive the line where they have to go the farthest, get on the gas the latest, etc.  In turn 7 you should cheat in a little to force them wide, but don't cheat in so far they pass you wide.  Not exactly blocking, but make them work for it where you are quicker so you can build and keep a cushion when you get to the spots where they're faster.  Racecraft is fun.  :D

At Summit we will have our Miata, much slower but handles much better, and no Animal to stare you in the face although I suppose he could make a guest appearance.  :)  Trust me, I will make it difficult for you to pass me.  lol

Nonsense, you guys have plenty of power  ;) .  You guys were driving the pants off that Neon.  The Wrec Miata had many an epic battle with the Neon, especially during my stints (Sat & Sun 1st stints).  If there was any car our there going 10/10ths, it was you guys (maybe even 11/10ths a few times).  Great racing, and looking forward to doing it again.

Here's what I have of the '69 Cougar, kind of "off in the distance" a lot, but hey, we're in a miata here...  Looks like you guys had some technical problems there in the last few seconds, we passed you guys way too easily.
