Looks like rain possible for the majority of the 24.  Honestly, kinda glad we skipped this year....that would be miserable in our car.  Good luck to all.  Not sure if Simon is there, but if they are, thats who my $ is on.

I really wish there was a broadcast of this race... Any body running a Ustream feed at least?  I know cell service was pretty limited up there, but my buddy with AT&T seem to have a good service.




 


I know at least one team will be running a live stream.  I'll try to get that information this morning.

First round of pit stops happened under full course yellow, so now we've got a whole new slew of driver's out there in these wet conditions.  They're getting bunched up, I suspect we're about to see a few more go off course.

Hey, for those of you at the race, or having run this race a few times...Jerminator and I were thinking of heading that way to hang out in the pits and meet some people, but probably couldn't get there until 10:30 or so tonight.

What's it like that late? Are a lot of people trying to get rest for later stints, or are most people still up and about? Will there even be someone there to let us in/take money that late? And it's $20/person, right?

I believe $20 is correct.  I'm trying to verify.

Around 10:30 at night the paddock will be pretty active.  This weather might force a few folks to bed earlier than normal.  If the weather clears up ChumpCar night racing is like nothing else around.  The colored LED lights that these guys use to identify their cars now make for an awesome show as they circle the track.

Looks like I'm going to have to seriously adjust our reliability statistics in my SIG.


 


Ron Boustedt who is our most experienced driver was out first.  40 minutes (10) laps, he hit some standing water on the front straight, and it pulled into the wall at somewhere around 100 mph.  With the M30 stuffed in there, the results where not pretty.  Right front is concave.  Radiator is toast, the strut tower is now pointing at the driver, there is nice ventilation hole in the firewall now, frame rail is bent.  On a positive note, the right front is rocking about -40% camber.  TCR-2 is done for the weekend.


 


TCR-1 looped it coming up the hill on the back stretch at about 11:30. Broken right front control arm and anti-sway bar mount.  We scrounged some parts (Al Taylor to the rescue).  We should have that car back out soon.


 


Or other pitmate Racewerks also hit the wall on the back stretch.  RaceWerks is grinding to get it back out.


 


Pit stall #7 was not too lucky this go around.


 


This will be the first race we haven't finished :(

Everyone is fine, aside from some bruised Ego's.


 


That lil escort does pretty good in the dry, I'm sure it would do well in this mess.


 


The biggest challenges seem to be the standing water and the 96% humidity.  Even with the OEM defroster (ye we left it in) running full blast in TCR-1, visibility out of the car is an issue.
