#229 Andy Turner Motorsports E30

Recommended Posts

Based in Valdosta, GA the #229 E30 was born through a chance discussion with Mark Devane from Speedway Creations #84 RX7. After a volunteer weekend at Road Atlanta in 2013, the build began with an 89 E30 recovered from a junkyard in nearby Moultrie, GA. The car was ready as it could be by the time Road Atlanta rolled around again in 2014. With three 50+ year old "drivers", the car travels the Southeast and haunts the mid-pack with consistent almost finishes. After our M20 engine blew up in Daytona in 2015, the executive decision was made to move to the EC class with the dreaded M54 engine swap. This extra power almost makes us competitive and is a blast to drive!! Be clear...We are here to have fun and drive fast, we do not live to win and have backed that up every race!! Don't hate us, you will probably finish ahead of us. Blame yourself if we beat you, you obviously did something wrong!!!

The inevitable happened. The M54 swapped E30 #229 succumbed to it's injuries at Sebring. It has been laid to rest in a recycle bin and now it's time to move on. It's replacement is a 330ci that we bought at Walmart (the seller met us near the garden center for the sale). This build makes sense for us since we have a trailer full of M54B30 parts and a spare engine. The hard work began today with the strip down. Looking for a roll cage kit now (suggestions?) Trying to make it to Daytona in 3 months.

E30

Sorry to hear but it wasn't looking good.

How is the driver?

Anything salvageable/salable

Driver ok other than broken collarbone. Not much to salvage except brake calipers, new front pads and rotors (7 laps on them) and new rear pads. Drive shaft was configured for M54 swap and rear diff is a locker but is geared for the swap also. H&R race springs and some suspension spares. Planning on bringing them to Road Atlanta and being a spectator. I will find you and give you a look.

We'd be interested in all that stuff as well. We will be at Road Atlanta. Rear diff is different from e30 to e46. Look at getting a 3.46 or 3.38 would be my suggestion.

I would talk to Chad Morehead at https://www.facebook.com/moreheadspeedworks/. Chad can probably help with tuning out all the stuuf not needed concerning EWS and such. He can also hook you up with Kevin Tulay on a wiring harness that eliminates all the crap you don't need. The Tulay harness will save you a lot of time wasted trying to delete stuff. Money well worth it.
