Technical Advisory Committee Andrew D Johnson Posted April 18, 2016 Technical Advisory Committee Report Share Posted April 18, 2016 Thanks Chumpstaff, RA safetey crews, and all the competitors. I had a great time, the driving by all the teams when I was on track was great. It appears this may have been Brock and Chris' last race, thanks for the fun over the years guys.

Sorry, forgot to add the Bimmer alphabet and number soup. they all scare us equally in our little Miata when they're flying by going up the RA hills.

I agree, penalty laps should be reduced for track length, especially as it is written in the rules to do so. How can you tell they weren't? thewheelerZ
Saturday top 10 was: 1) Nissan Maxima 2) E30 3) Fox Mustang 4) E30 5) Camaro 6) Audi 200 7) Integra 8) E30 9) Integra 10) Neon That's actually a pretty good spread. The next 10 cars to 20th place also look pretty diverse.

You can figure out a car's penalty laps by comparing their official lap count to the number of laps they actually completed on mylaps. last year I did a bunch of math to come up with a reasonable penalty lap multiplier based on track length, since the RD have the ability to apply it, never happened. I submitted a petition to change the rules to incorporate the math, but it got denied and the response was that the RD's would do it going forward. I've given up on putting effort into trying to make the rules more fair/consistent. Edited April 18, 2016 by ABR-Glen

Slugworks Paul
E36s were dominant, but ever since they've been in Condren's crosshairs, they've been beaten into submission and mostly out of the series. Not something I really wanted to see.
Eman911
Had a great time this weekend despite our poor showing on Sunday. Chump Staff, RA workers and all of the competitors were great. (sorry to see Mike and Huggy go). I only got 2 hours on the track, all on Saturday, but saw no glaring examples of asshattery. The rest of my team reported the same. The only incident that caused a raised eyebrow was waking up Saturday night/ Sunday morning to my son saying "Dude! You're in the wrong trailer." Apparently one of our neighbors came home from the Bear a little tipsy and climbed in the wrong trailer and crashed. Good for a laugh. Unless you were the guy he cuddled up with.

John was merely responding to the pitchfork and torch folks with their fears of series domination by the evil E36........ at the time it was slightly warranted as the other marques had yet to catch up with the potential of the E36s. ... not to mention the driver talent of those early adopters. Those days are long passed..... FREE THE 325!!!!

Time to reduce E36 penalty laps for sure. Ron, you were off just slightly. At last year's RA Central Div championship, it was 10 of 13 BMW's in the top 13. I'm not a BMW hater by any means, I have no problem with them, but somehow I fail to see how Chumpcar is crucifying them. These were the results from last years RA Chumpionship race. The 2016 rule changes gave everyone free suspension bushings, better springs, and REDUCED the laps for the E36's. How did this drive E36's away? If anything, if they had no TCV room to play with, the rule changes mentioned above gave them leeway for more mods. forgive me, but I'm having a hard time understanding the uproar and flight to other series. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 #95 Team McQueen 2 D - Chumpion Laps Total Time Best Lap Best Time Diff Gap 1993 Nissan 240SX 295 16:02:55.238 157 02:49.105 2 #7 Spartan Racing A - Chumpion Laps Total Time Best Lap Best Time Diff Gap 1995 BMW 318is 294 16:03:52.390 151 02:56.739 57.152 57.152 3 #176 JSK Racing C - Chumpion Laps Total Time Best Lap Best Time Diff Gap 1999 nissan maxima 291 16:00:18.547 116 02:55.593 4 #27 North Loop Motorsport C - Chumpion Laps Total Time Best Lap Best Time Diff Gap 1987 BMW 325 288 16:03:00.710 222 02:56.238 5.472 2:42.163 5 #122 The Most Interesting Chumps in the World C - Chumpion Laps Total Time Best Lap Best Time Diff Gap 1990 BMW 325i 288 16:03:04.465 218 02:57.710 9.227 3.755 6 #129 E30 Jager Bombers C - Chumpion Laps Total Time Best Lap Best Time Diff Gap 1989 BMW E30 287 16:03:03.767 103 02:56.662 8.529 7 #197 F1 1ab (wanna bees) C - Chumpion Laps Total Time Best Lap Best Time Diff Gap 1998 BMW 323is 286 16:03:38.653 15 02:55.812 43.415 34.886 8 #32 Premium Dudes C Laps Total Time Best Lap Best Time Diff Gap 1988 BMW 325is 285 16:03:02.494 101 02:55.739 7.256 9 #368 PBR Light C Laps Total Time Best Lap Best Time Diff Gap 1989 BMW 325i 285 16:03:29.678 258 02:54.700 34.440 27.184 10 #321 In The Red Racing C - Chumpion Laps Total Time Best Lap Best Time Diff Gap 1994 BMW 325is 279 16:03:13.859 107 02:55.742 18.621 11 #421 EmitLaer A Laps Total Time Best Lap Best Time Diff Gap 1994 Honda Civic 279 16:03:52.919 142 02:58.305 57.681 39.060 12 #36 Ambitious But Rubbish C - Chumpion Laps Total Time Best Lap Best Time Diff Gap 1993 BMW E36 278 16:03:33.747 24 03:01.484 38.509 13 #550 Junk in the Trunk Racing C Laps Total Time Best Lap Best Time Diff Gap 1988 BMW 325i 276 16:03:42.125 99 02:56.856 46.887 8.378
ABR-Glen
I'm not going to reiterate years worth of posts in this thread, there are plenty of "explanations" on here already. Fact is, 7 of those 13 teams are racing in the other series now. Maybe they are all just whining babies who think they are entitled to an easy win, but their money is just as green as yours and those entry fees will be missed.
