Thanks Chumpstaff, RA safetey crews, and all the competitors. I had a great time, the driving by all the teams when I was on track was great.

It appears this may have been Brock and Chris' last race, thanks for the fun over the years guys.

Sunday Top 7 were

1) BMW

2) BMW

3) Mustang

4) BMW

5) Maxima

6) 240SX

7) Audi

To be clear, those BMW's were all E30's.

Also, it appears that the penalty laps were not reduced due to the track length. I give up on that.

Sorry, forgot to add the Bimmer alphabet and number  soup.  they all scare us equally in our little Miata when they're flying by going up the RA hills. :)

It looks like there were only 2 E36s entered.  Is that right?

I agree, penalty laps should be reduced for track length, especially as it is written in the rules to do so.  How can you tell they weren't?

There was one in EC also.

You can figure out a car's penalty laps by comparing their official lap count to the number of laps they actually completed on mylaps.

last year I did a bunch of math to come up with a reasonable penalty lap multiplier based on track length, since the RD have the ability to apply it, never happened. I submitted a petition to change the rules to incorporate the math, but it got denied and the response was that the RD's would do it going forward. I've given up on putting effort into trying to make the rules more fair/consistent.

???  Time to reduce E36 penalty laps for sure.

Those cars have all been modified to run other series now, will have to wait a few more years for those things to be "free" in ChumpCar.

Had a great time this weekend despite our poor showing on Sunday. Chump Staff, RA workers and all of the competitors were great. (sorry to see Mike and Huggy go).

I only got 2 hours on the track, all on Saturday, but saw no glaring examples of asshattery. The rest of my team reported the same. The only incident that caused a raised eyebrow was waking up Saturday night/ Sunday morning to my son saying "Dude! You're in the wrong trailer." Apparently one of our neighbors came home from the Bear a little tipsy and climbed in the wrong trailer and crashed. Good for a laugh. Unless you were the guy he cuddled up with.

E36s were dominant, but ever since they've been in Condren's crosshairs, they've been beaten into submission and mostly out of the series. Not something I really wanted to see.

John was merely responding to the pitchfork and torch folks with their fears of series domination by the evil E36........ at the time it was slightly warranted as the other marques had yet to catch up with the  potential of the E36s. ... not to mention the driver talent of those early adopters.

Those days are long passed.....

Ron, you were off just slightly. At last year's RA Central Div championship, it was 10 of 13 BMW's in the top 13.

I'm not a BMW hater by any means, I have no problem with them, but somehow I fail to see how Chumpcar is crucifying them. These were the results from last years RA Chumpionship race.

The 2016 rule changes gave everyone free suspension bushings, better springs, and REDUCED the laps for the E36's.

How did this drive E36's away?  If anything, if they had no TCV room to play with, the rule changes mentioned above gave them leeway for more mods. forgive me, but I'm having a hard time understanding the uproar and flight to other series.

I'm not going to reiterate years worth of posts in this thread, there are plenty of "explanations" on here already. Fact is, 7 of those 13 teams are racing in the other series now. Maybe they are all just whining babies who think they are entitled to an easy win, but their money is just as green as yours and those entry fees will be missed.
