theamsoilguy
So my turbo car has a side mount intercooler stock. I now have a bigger side mount in my hand and a fmic that I could also fit. Stock is 'free' because it is stock. Adding a intercooler is 20 points if I saw that in the rules correctly. So is it 20 point to upgrade or somewhere between 0 and 20? If in between how am I going to calculate that. Plan is to wrap the water pipe behind the turbo, maybe turbo blanket, and keep intake temps down, anything I can to manage temps if that's what is causing my problems. Two more weekends of ice racing and then I'm hitting the chump car hard to fix the head gasket blowing over and over issue ! I have reattached my exhaust for the 3rd and hopefully last time this ice racing season.

theamsoilguy
My car came with a intercooler.....I just think I need a bigger one. So trying to figure out if its 20 or less.
Bremsen
Fixed value is just that. 20pts regardless of size. Put the biggest m-f you can on there.
Ron_e
My car came with a intercooler.....I just think I need a bigger one. So trying to figure out if its 20 or less. My car came with an engine... I just think I need a bigger one. A swap will not be less than 50 points no matter the size. Same for any other part, points are not calculated based on size, the only exception being hp for engine swaps.
theamsoilguy
Size no, but costs maybe, cheapo aftermarket intercooler on kijiji can be had for less that a factory one from a junk yard. I figured its probably 20, but Im asking to know for sure.
miatainium
My car came with a intercooler.....I just think I need a bigger one. So trying to figure out if its 20 or less. My car came with a radiator and I just think I need a bigger aluminum one. BCCR says "radiator, aluminum non-OE: 20 pts (provided retail value of radiator under $300)". Not convinced? Email Phil. enginerd
My car came with a intercooler.....I just think I need a bigger one. So trying to figure out if its 20 or less. What was unclear about my answer? If it's an intercooler, and it isn't OE, and it's on your car, it's 25 points. turbocharger and supercharger intercoolers, non-OE: 25 pts Also I just checked the rules, it says 25 points. https://chumpcar.com/downloads/2017ChumpCarBCCR.pdf
mhr650
Yeah 25 points, I tried to spin it that my second stock oil cooler could possibly be less than 20 points for an oil cooler since it was just a second version of the stock OEM cooler, no dice I got my stock cooler free but had to pay 20 points for the second one.
