Usually this event is one of the first ones where the snow has melted enough that you can actually get some work done on your car.  This year, it's been nearly 80 degrees out here!  What does this mean?  No excuses on why your car isn't running right!  Follow along for some important info to make your event go smoother.

Gates - You'll be able to get in starting at Noon on Friday.  DO NOT ENTER THROUGH THE MAIN GATES.  VIR is hosting their charity laps again meaning the main gate will be a zoo.  All ChumpCar teams should enter using the South Gate until 4pm.  See map here.  After 4pm, you can use the main gate.

Tech - We knocked out over 80 cars at Road Atlanta last month, but many of you didn't race that weekend.  That means tech will be busy again.  Make sure you have your tech sheet printed and filled out.  Incomplete tech sheets may result in your team being placed in EC.
Some items have changed vs the 2016 rulebook, make sure you read through the 2017 book.  FYI - don't RainX your windshield until
after you apply the windshield banner!

Registration - To expedite the registration process, make sure you go over your entry before you get in line.  Make any driver changes and pay any balances while on that long drive to VIR.  If your drivers are correct and you are fully paid when you get in line, registration takes less than 3 minutes!

Lights - The sun sets around 6pm but the race ends at 9pm.  Unless your car is equipped with night vision from an Apache helicopter, make sure your headlights are installed and working for tech.

Pit Assignments - All you really want to know, right?  Click here.

A reminder: read through and print out the Supplemental Rules for this event here.

If you have any questions about registration, please contact Katherine Miller here.  Any other questions you can contact me here.

We're looking forward to seeing you in Virginia!

All the best -

An Important message for VIR team captains...

Hello Team Captains and Drivers!

Our first VIR race is finally here and we are going to have a great time! A lot of you still owe race fees for this weekend's race, so please go online and visit the website to pay your fees or edit entry information.

Just a little reminder do NOT come to registration until you have reviewed your team entry and verified that ALL driver and payment information is correct. We have a lot of teams signed up for this race and they all want to get through registration as quickly as possible. So please be courteous and take care of everything online before you come to the registration table.

If you have any issues with credits and payments specifically related to this event's entry, please let me know so we can get your payment settled prior to the race weekend.

Please contact me if you have any questions or problems with your online entry and I will be happy to help you.

Let's go racing!!!

If you have not seen this and you are racing at VIR -

Hey Eastern Region Chumps!
As most of you know, we have started up a cool service for ChumpCar called ChumpCast Live! We will be live streaming the VIR 12-hour event, with full commentary and onsite reporting live at https://chumpcar.com/live
We had almost 20 live cameras at the CCWS Road Atlanta race a few weeks ago!
Spread this link to your family and friends so they can watch you race!
You can get the supplemental rules there, and a list of all the cars entered.
If you have a live stream camera, phone or whatever in your pit, paddock or race car, please sign up RaceCast.me and enter the VIR event here.. https://live.racecast.me/event/58777f566331973c279505ce
Just sign into your account, click the flag, and find the VIR ChumpCar event, and click, Join. Done.
How to live stream? Click here. CCWS Forum - Live Stream instructions - https://forum.chumpcar.com/index.php…
As we will not only be talking about the cars and drivers that are on the live in-car feeds, we may see your car while in the pit lane, paddock or passing a camera car. Knowing a bit of information about your team will give us something to pass onto our viewers.
What I need from you or the team principals-

cut and paste the following into an email and address it to bill.strong@chumpcar.com
In the Subject put - "VIR 12-hour Media Info"
Car Number:
Car Make and Model:
Car year:
Any cool info, like swap info.
Sponsor if you have one :
Driver list, First and Last Name
If you have your driver stint order sorted, include that
Anything cool about the drivers, like ex-F1 driver for Ferrari
Best finish at a ChumpCar event:

There is no need to send images as we will get these at the track after you tech or while you test.

Remember, this will give us some great info to pass onto the folks watching the race.

And as always, you will be able to download the full event for later viewing. We will post links after the race event.

So, please email me that info as soon as you can, so we can get overlays made and art work done. I will be taking pictures of everyones car on Friday to match up with this info you sent to us.
While I have you here, please make certain that all of your drivers and crew have paid up 2017 CCWS Memberships. This is really important as all payments are now done before the events to help speed up registration. You can complete your member payments here - https://chumpcar.com/register/login.php

I will be racing the red #179 Opel GT. Look for me in the paddock. Stop by if you have any questions about live video. I will have a camera setup in the car that you can look at to see what you need.

Thanks again Chumps! See you Friday!!

Preview the track...

It is easy to forget just how SHORT that pit lane is.  Everyone be careful out there - there is going to be a lot of double-wide pitting and some patience is going to be required at times to keep things safe.  It is a little bit like the lanes at Arrivals at the airport - sometimes someone gets trapped at the curb for a little while.....
