jackrabb1t
So, what's going on with the Vegas race at the end of the year? The PDF schedule says December 30-31, but the HTML schedule says October 21-22. Apologies if I've missed an announcement somewhere.
Mikiel
The PDF was printed months ago and is out of date. The Vegas race is in October.

Mikiel
It'll be what it says on the registration page. Outside road course, double 7.
KDJones2000
Well the title of the race is the LAS VEGAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY: Double 8, $1100 , but the supplementals and schedule indicate that it is actually an 8+7. https://www.chumpcar.com/register/supplementalrules/335.pdf I actually prefer an 8+7, but it would be nice that the race name and the race actually agree with each other
Slugworks Paul
I need a couple more drivers but I should be there.
KDJones2000
Officially entered for this race. Early discount ends on Tuesday, so get yours in! It's a fun, technical course with some high speed turns and some decreasing radius stuff. The 2014 West Championship was held on this track, if you can remember back that far... Slugworks Paul
Will this be the inside or outside road course?

Slugworks Paul
correct me if i'm wrong - this config does not use any of the oval, right?
hotchkis23
Outside does not use the oval. Unless it changed since New Years, there is no power along the pit lane or any type of lighting either. Large paddock space though, which is nice. The outside track was a lot of fun to run, I would go back to do it again.
Jamie
Here is a shitty track map Here is a in car video *shameless self plug* @chisek @Bill Strong Will there be something to address the issues with the timing equipment in the pits? Last time I races here it was setup in such a way that the timing did not work in the pits which sucks in addition it registering false hits when cars were in the pits. FlorahDorah
So.... does everyone realize that the Vegas race is listed as the West Region Chumpionship and the December race at Laguna Seca is.... just another race?

Totally agree here, it is a lot of fun. Just like current F1 tracks you can push the past the point of no return and except for just a couple of small areas the only penalty to pay for going off is a slower lap time. Off track is hard packed sand so while less grip than the track you just back out a bit and wonder back onto the track.

Is it possible the thinking is this: There are a finite number of entries at Laguna Seca. It might make some teams sad if they were qualified to participate in the Chumpionship but were denied that opportunity because there were not enough spots available for qualifiers to enter? This is assuming that the Las Vegas facility is capable of handling many more entries than Laguna Seca.

We stopped running the Chumpionship at Laguna Seca because too many others took up the spaces as it is a bucket list track. As @dogtired points out, noone comes to Vegas, so those who qualify in the Western Region don't have to worry about not getting a space. My concern is that people may think the last race of the year in the Western Region (Laguna Seca) is the Chumpionship and it's not. That's all. rod rammage
Yes, it is depressing that we cannot summon more than a handful of cars to the Vegas event at this stage. It really is a fun track.

Slugworks Paul
I recall it being mentioned by some chumpcar official that laguna is the chumpionship, as well.
FlorahDorah
Yeah I think some clarification is in order as that is not what is stated on the schedule. Qualified teams have been burned in the past because everybody signs up for Laguna Seca as soon as possible because of limited spaces and it is a bucket list track. It's also a more favorable tow for most. Unless ChumpCar can ensure spaces for every top 10 finisher in the West Region who wants to compete in the Chumpionship, I'm at a loss as to the purpose of 'Chumpionship' races in each region.
