Xph
Working on my passenger side door bars.. I had a local shop copy the ones I had for the driver side.. and it looks like they had a smaller diameter mandrel.. i am sure since these are extra bars on the passenger side we will be ok with tech.. but are these bends good or is this the definition of crushed.. bar on left was from the local shop, bar on right was from our roll cage "kit" we got from a former SCCA guy Just wondering if I can use this local shop for other bends or time to keep shopping... wvumtnbkr
I know that in Lemons they would make you add a taco gusset to that.
Xph
I am thinking he used a press bend on it and not a mandrel.. and therefore it's the definition of a crushed bend.. supposedly they build Miata cages.. but I am not even sure I want to weld that on my passenger door..
FalkenIdiots
Yep, I'd say that's a no-go. The integrity of the steel is compromised with that bend. Mandrel would be the way to go.
