wvumtnbkr
This is something that I actually heard... If you take off the entire control system from a Toyota Celica GT-Four and put it on a rotary engine, you can make 200 hp. I also heard that stock SBCs can make 300 hp simply by changing the rocker arms to ones with a higher ratio. Oh, yea, this too: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Stage-13-Performance-Power-Tuner-Chip-Add-150-HP-8-MPG-OBD-Tuning-for-Ford-/152533241128?hash=item2383b08d28:g:RFsAAOSwB-1Y6mfS&vxp=mtr

Ham Sammich
Our own former feerless leader told me he had it on good authority that a stock 100hp honda engine would go 160 with a simple ECU update .... Thusly explaining a lot things back then .

Ron_e
So on goofy marketing stuff... I had to get new front brake pads for the wife's Matrix so I went to Napa. Them: We have Ultra Premium, Adaptive, then Premium which is OE equivalent. Me: What is Adaptive? Them: Well, it has different compounds on the inside and outside pads. The inner pad sees more heat because of the engine and the outer pad runs cooler. Me: Really? I will take the Premium, OE equivalent is fine for street driving.
Ham Sammich
"adaptive", what it is, is a single pad that fits every car, but comes with a paper template for all cars. You select your car, trim the pad, drill some holes and BAMMO, fits your car. Much easier to stock from a Napa perspective.
Ron_e
I think it was $129 for the ultra, $113 for the adaptive, $103 for the Premium that was OE equivalent. They charge more for pads I have to make myself? His story was different compounds inner and outer.
wvumtnbkr
I have heard of the different compound thing. I think it's because sliding calipers don't always work evenly.

Racer28173
The teenage son of a friend of mine heard "you need to get more air into the engine". So he drilled a bunch of holes in the air plenum. Of course this was downstream of the air cleaner and the MAF. Thankfully it was a POS car before the performance enhancement..... TiredBirds
well 1st you start with one of these... electronic supercharger then you add one of these to the exhaust turbo exhaust tip then you ae all set to DOMINATE

Since a 4 cylinder only has one exhaust and can only install one, these should probably be a points adder.
