Ronh911
I think the first one is great! It has nothing to do with my car being in it either. ?
u-turn
Message of the first video, bring your rusted "crap-can" to a world class track and bounce off each other like a indoor kart track?
LAMR2
Yeah, that first ad is well done and would probably drum up interest, but it doesn't exactly communicate the image the new management is going for.
Technical Advisory Committee Chris Huggins Posted May 9, 2017 Technical Advisory Committee Report Share Posted May 9, 2017 first one shows a lot of crashing...
Cam Benty
Hmmm. A little paint trading! Fighting for positions! 10 10ths! That could stir the competitive fire for new teams. Well done!
enginerd
Every clip / image was flashed so quickly I barely know what I'm looking at. I know that attention spans are decreasing because of the saturation of digital media... but this has gone a step too far imo.

pintodave
Professionally done for sure, but I agree with the sharp & fast transitions between clips - oy. Liable to give someone an epileptic fit. I know you have to cram a lot of detail into a short window being an advertisement, but maybe a few less transitions and just show some good racing, one or two in-car, and one or two external.

I am not racing that car anymore. It's done. Stripped of important stuff for the new chassis, if I can ever find the time to build it. But... ChumpCar is my job, so that is the priority. Me using my cars in videos is because that is what I have access to. I use what I have to get the message across. You said that most likely in jest, but we get emails from certain folks who would rather not see me or the car. If you live in the Charlottesville/Albemarle, Nelson County, Lynchburg Virginia areas, and have a legal ChumpCar, and want to be in some promotional videos, let me know. This will help reduce the emails from the guys that run one race a year complaining that they see yellow MR2s too much.

lonestarrpm
I'd drop the front end crunch -- that's not what I'd want to promote. That looks like the roundy-rounds from Friday night. I think a quick buzz along pit road showing all the makes and models and one showing a start of a race (maybe a double file one) would be good. Transitions a little too quick -- but otherwise I liked the concept. On the second one -- I'd dust off the car -- and then fire it up -- rev the engine and pronounce -- "She's ready!!" Administrators Bill Strong Posted May 9, 2017 Author Administrators Report Share Posted May 9, 2017 I would have to strip parts from the Opel GT to get it to fire up. and it would make crunching noise due to the destroyed transaxle. But that would make for a funny video. And I would require more than just my 15 year old cinematographer. And the promo was mainly for viewers for the series on ChumpCast Live. Crashes bring viewers. Viewers brings sponsors. Sponsors bring money so we can build this series. My job is to bring the viewers.

The same guy who ran ALMS into the ground, and is now doing the same with IMSA (again)? Let me know when Stephane Ratel starts turning up at CCWS events -- he's the only person in top-shelf sports-car racing with the remotest notion of a Clue....
JDChristianson
No crashes or smashed carnage please. Real Clean Racing is what we should be promoting. I love the Speedway videos from the SCCA Nationals. It's tons of short clips but doesn't make me want to have a seizure
DEE DEE
That does not promote road racing. Way to long. Give Bill a break he's new at this. SCCA spends stupid money on these videos and keeps their membership in the dark as to the cost.
JDChristianson
Really? It doesn't promote road racing? I never made the connection. Simply an an example of something that could be used for ideas and learning.
