Hi_Im_Will
1. By getting my phone set up on RaceCast, and joining an event, am I automatically added to the ChumpCast and the Youtube live stream? 2. Driver names are updated mid-race by logging in and changing it on my racecast profile? 3. Is broadcasting really as easy as opening Wowza and pressing the big red button?

Racer28173
The X-mount is nice because you can put pretty much any phone in it. You do need to make sure EVERYTHING is nice and tight though or you will get a very shaky video. That's why I use the shorty arm rather than the longer one that they make. The long one is great for a non-moving platform, but not for a car. The X-mount has a thing that allows you to lock the rotation once the phone is in. Make sure you understand how it works and use it - otherwise you will have the phone tilt while you drive. It isn't at all hard to use - you just have to recognize its purpose and use it.

Care to share? I have that mount and hate it because of the behavior you describe - It rotates the phone when you take a turn unless the phone is the MAX size that fits. So Iphone 6+ and a case works OK, but Iphone 6 or 5 flop around.

So Iphone 6+ and a case works OK, but Iphone 6 or 5 flop around. Look at the 4th picture in the amazon listing, and you will see a thing that kind of looks like a gasket. It goes over the ball and then grabs the four corners of the phone. Done right, there is no way it will rotate. I'm not sure the really old one had that though - it may be a newer version than you have. You want to make sure the back of the phone is against the round center part too, but I think most people would naturally put it in the grip that way so they could access the screen. Racer28173
This is NOT for mounting a phone, but I will add it to the thread because I know some guys use a GoPro linked to a phone. This is a mount I just bought that makes a lot more sense than the GoPro bar mount I used to use, because it has the mount facing the right way (i.e. no 90 degree rotation adapter required). Because it doesn't need any adapters, the movement/vibration should be minimal (we've all seen GoPro footage that is almost un-viewable because of the vibration). I have put the included compression tape on the mount (rather than the bar), so that I can easily move it in the car (and to other cars). I will update this post after the Autobahn race (the test session for it) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CBSDS2G/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=
theblue
OK experts. Can I do this: I have: Wifi hotspot, android phone, gopro hero 3 silver (has wifi). I want to have the gopro and phone on the hotstop and use wowza or larix (both listed on racecast) to stream using the hotspot not from the phone, but from the gopro thoughts? Gearhead_42
Where's my popcorn emoji? Watching and waiting for ideas too. I've been combing the internet for two days trying to figure out that exact thing. If you want to take the HDMI out of the GoPro and stream it on Racecast, you need one of those Cerevo or Teradek solutions. Bill put up a post a while back that went through all of this stuff. Hi_Im_Will
Steps for making Samsung Galaxy S7 stream properly: 1. Turn everything off (restart phone to make sure) 2. Turn off bluetooth 3. Turn off wifi 4. Open Wowza Gocoder (or is there a better app?) 5. Push big red button Is this correct? I kept having dropouts during the practice day at WGI, really want to make sure this works for Gingerman. @Bill Strong, you use S7s successfully for ChumpCast, right? What is your setup process? Administrators Bill Strong Posted August 18, 2017 Administrators Report Share Posted August 18, 2017 we do.do exactly as above. We did have dropouts at with the S7 mounted in cars at VIR. But we had some serious Verizon issues. I was able to get any good test. even my interview S7 had issues.

theblue
yeah, that's what I use. It comes with a rubber band thing that holds the phone so it's not going anywhere. use it for race, but take it off for street use.
enginerd
I've set up the streaming stuff on an iPhone6+ and tested the streaming to racecast.me. Everything seems to work, but I can't seem to film / record in landscape.. always portrait no matter how I tilt the phone.. both with orientation lock on and off... is there a setting that I am missing? Edit: ok I figured it out. Settings are "lock screen orientation: off" on the iphone. And "allow rotated video: off" on the app. Edited October 6, 2017 by enginerd
enginerd
Watching the stream today I saw one of the cameras flip the picture 90 degrees in some of the turns... I would assume this is in response to sustained >1g acceleration, so I investigated how to make it not do this while recording in landscape mode (portait mode is easier on iPhone). 1) GoCoder > video settings > Allow Rotated Video: ON 2) iPhone settings > Portrait Orientation Lock: OFF 3) General settings > accessibility > AssistiveTouch: ON 4) Push AssistiveTouch button > Device > Rotate Screen > Rotate Left 5) Now tip your phone on its side and record with GoCoder. The stream will now be in landscape and won't rotate in the corners.
