cheseroo
Interesting. I guess we are firmly on the side of the 25%. Also interesting is that I never got the email survey I've been begging for them to do. Maybe all my kicking and screaming got me blacklisted. Anyway, will have to see what the team wants to do now as the primary interest was in a 24.

We are also in what would have been that 25% that was interested in the 24 hour. Will also need to check with the team...
Administrators Bill Strong Posted July 5, 2017 Author Administrators Report Share Posted July 5, 2017 If you use Yahoo email, I am seeing that our emails are not making it past them. I don't know what email you are using. Just looking for answers as to why you did not get an email.
cheseroo
rches<atsign>ix.netcom.com was the one I most commonly received Chump emails on. When Bill was let go, the emails stopped.
KDJones2000
Already moving on to Las Vegas. Too far to tow for a Double 7. You CA teams need to build this one up on your own.
Pee Wee
This is the new world of racing. All the candy asses have to get home before the street lights come on. Can't we just harden up and do something that isn't easy to do?
Rodger Coan-Burningham
Yeah I was really looking forward to helping out on the driving for the 24, now I guess I'll make the trip and just hand gas cans across the wall.

I think the Chumpionship should be an overnight at a minimum. Make it really hard!

A format I would like to see is Saturday A.M tech followed by a 1:45 qualifying session Saturday afternoon with ALL team drivers rotating through the car for two lap minimum then a solid 12 to 14 hour overnight race say 7 pm to 9 am. That would be a hoot!

True -- but the bottom line is, well, the Bottom Line; and if an event ain't pullin' its weight....

Valid point, however the biggest complaint was always that it was 110+ weather. that did suck really bad.

It was a mere 98 at midnight when we did it.
Alchemy Autosport
To bring this thread back on track, I am curious to see how many this attracts and what everyone at the event has to say about the split event vs a full 24. I am not sure we will be there but we will try.

I'm only going because I was promised free entry, nude dancers (female), and ice cream.
B. Holsten
Bummer. This pretty much seals it for us. B
gielamonster
Was prepping a car specifically to start running Chump events SPECIFICALLY for this 24 hour race. Was going to be our first race with Chump in years. Zero wind in the sails now. This is a huge disappointment. Most likely out now.

FlorahDorah
I think we are still in. Disappointed it's not a 24, but not surprised.
FlorahDorah
@Bill Strong I see that Buttonwillow is listed as $1000 on the event list, but $1200 here. Since we lost 9 hours of racing because of the conversion to an 8 + 7, it would be nice to have a little bit of a price drop. Might also get a few more teams to sign up.
kiwiracer
If we really want to attract cars, drop the price, it's only 3 weeks before the Lemons Buttonwillow race.. so you have to compete with that. if it was cost effective we may be able to attract a more teams, I may be able to round up more drivers and we will bring 2 cars ourselves..
