Rebirth of a Legend... literally

As many of you already know, after 6 years of racing, we were finally taken out by a head on collision in Decembers Chumpionship race.  That Legend proved to be a front-runner up until that point.  With a long string of podium finishes, Chumpionship wins and FTD’s, we dialed in the recipe for success.   With that know how, we decided to take the plunge and build another car.  However, instead of us racing... it's for sale.

NOTE: If you want to buy a turnkey car, put a half-decent team together and win…this is the car to do it in.  If you want to turn laps just for fun….read no further.

For sale is a BRAND NEW, ground-up-built racecar

The base is clean titled, one-owner, southern, '95 Acura Legend Coupe 6spd.

The Basics:

  • Engine - Bulletproof C32A w/ 230+ HP (complete rebuild with a dash of homebrew ingenuity)
  • Fuel - 18+ gallons w/surge system, allowing well over 2hrs of fuel on any track.
  • Brakes - Acura RL BBK / with proportioning / Reybestos ST43 pads & cooling
  • Wheels - 17x8 Acura TL w/255-40s
  • Other -The finer details (equipment, suspension, etc) will be shared with prospective buyers.

What's done thus far:

The car was stripped to the bones (even wiring was minimized), the plasma came out, and it was extensively lightened (more than our previous car).  It is now caged and the interior is painted, the fuel system and break system is back in.  Next is suspension, engine, so on and so forth. The safety items (fire system, seating, net, harness etc), as well as gauges and such will be carried over from the previous car.  Essentially, the buyer will be purchasing a lighter, more refined version of what we raced all those years.

In short, expect an incredibly easy and comfortable to drive vehicle.  It retains the variable power steering, which lets you flick it into a corner with ease.  It is very neutral and plenty powerful to hang with just about anyone.  Don’t take my word for it, I’ll let the folks chime in who have driven with us over the years.  We’ve had everyone from first time racers, to some of the fastest SE36 and Ariel Atom drivers behind the wheel.

Spare Parts and Extras

This is just the short list off the top of my head.  We have literally acquired just about everything imaginable over the years.  If it something to keep you going in a pinch, we’ve got it.

  • 3.5L Acura RL engine (Eligible within the current points system.  Would require swapping parts from the 3.2 to complete the build).
  • Additional running C32A engine
  • Stage 3 Sr5 Tuned ECU (not installed)
  • Differentials
  • Extra axles
  • Tons of suspension components (trailing arms, control arms, struts, hubs, etc)
  • Spare rotors / pads
  • 8 Acura TL wheels and various spare tires.
  • Aluminum racing radiator
  • Spare fuel pump, injectors, and various fuel system related items.
  • Various electronics and vacuum components
  • (4) Xenon HID Sealed Headlights
  • Custom LSD (on order, and will be made available for the right sale price) Really, the only thing left on the table to make this car a legitimate beast would be this big ticket item. It can be run within the current 500pt cap.

You may hear folks on the form say “buy a car you know”.  We originally bought our first Legend knowing absolutely nothing about it.  There were hurdles with brakes, fuel, and axles, but they were all overcome.  We’re not going to just dump a car on the buyer.  We'll gladly share our know-how and get you on a preventative maintenance schedule to be successful in endurance racing.

Schedules permitting, our target (pie in the sky dream?) is to make the car available during the VIR 24hr practice session.   Or buy it soon, and we may even paint it your favorite color. :D

When finished, expect her to look like the build completed last November (below).

I will be the first one to chime in.  The old car was a really easy car to go FAST in.  If you buy this car and don't do well, I'm going to bet that driver skill is the issue.  If you buy this car, I'd be interested in renting from you (particularly at Road Atlanta).  I had originally planned to buy this car but life threw me two curve balls and I can't buy a car right now. These guys know how to build a car for sure.

Go on YouTube and search for inACURAte if you want to see in-car footage of the original car.  I have at least 2 races posted from when I rented from them.  We finished 5th at Road Atlanta even though we had contact.  We finished 5th at VIR-S with an extra pit stop to check something (forgot what it was now).   When you look at top-5 car video, you usually see a lot of dramatic car-control going on.  Not with this car.  It was easy to drive.

I've been racing against the old car and team for years.

When they pull into the paddock, there is a collective groan that is audible....

When they show up, you just lost 1 spot on the podium.  It was their spot to lose.

Good luck with the sale.

I hope you guys stay racing!

I literally laughed out loud reading that comment.  Thank you for the kind words gents!

Racer28173, two questions...

1)How the hell do I embed photos to the post?

2) Let me post up some decent videos.  Most of mine are just stupid and funny or making fun of our brake issues back in the day.  That's not much of a sales pitch ;)

Am I the only one going to ask the obvious?  WHY!?!?!

You guys have been awesome competitors over the years.  Sorry to see you go....even if it means we don't have to groan when I see that red arrow in the paddock.  Good luck with whatever ventures you're moving on to.

We've raced against InAcurate  since the beginning. Always a great car and great team.  Despite  racing them in 5 different cars I've never driven anything that could keep up with their handling through the  turns or speed in the straights.  Someone will be getting a fantastic car.

I just hope they haven't found the  holy grail and  are developing their "next generation" platform.   That would mean our serious azz whoopins  would continue indefinitely! :D

Best of luck whatever the future  brings.

Wait, there was a 4 door Legend that came with a 6 speed?  I wonder if I could convince the wife that I need one for a baby hauler.

Good luck finding one.  I tried really hard and came up empty handed.  The ones that do sell have a cult following and fetch a premium

Yeah, the only one I could find on Autotrader had 200+k miles and they were asking 8500.

Thanks again for the kind and amusing comments guys.

Bremen, why are we selling? We're both constantly busy and Vinny is moving on to SE46 and wants to start that build.  I think we will both keep racing, but would likely try the arrive and drive thing.

EvilZ,  I haven't even checked.  Decembers race was supposed to be the final run before she was sold, so we were on pins and needles trying to keep her clean.  It was the "final run" alight.  I know the year before, during the first stint, she laid down a 1:45.2.
