Can we Race with only 2 drivers?

Recommended Posts

We are new to Chump, and might be showing up to our first race in a few weeks at Gingerman with only 2 drivers.   (we had 3 on the roster, but one is now questionable...)

Is it possible/legal to run the race with only 2 drivers?

How much of a disadvantage will we be at when it comes to fueling/pit stops?

7. RULES OF THE ROAD 7.1. MAXIMUM DRIVING TIME 7.1.1. Within an Endurance Race, no driver shall drive for more than 2 hours consecutively and shall have, at a minimum, sixty (60) minutes rest between stints.

So, yes you can run with 2 drivers.

Theoretically it would not be a disadvantage if you could finish all the work and get buckled in under 5 minutes. In reality it is probably a slight disadvantage. I am sure a team around you will loan you a fire bottle person.

you can do it. just ask your pit mates or the guys beside you to help with fire bottle duties.
We did that with a 2-man team at Laguna Seca. They ended up beating us. If we had not helped them we would have beat them.

lol

LOL, I don't think our pit mates will be at much risk of that....

Cool, thanks for everyone's responses!

It's been my experience that there's usually guys there looking for a ride as well. If you get completely wore out, and you might by Sunday afternoon, there's usually someone one walking around with a helmet. ;)

Just go looking for a team that has a parked/broken car - you will find available drivers.

You can definitely do this. My son and I did December Sebring by ourselves, finished 11th overall and 2nd in class. Driver getting out held fire bottle, driver getting in dumped fuel. Hillbilly Racing's proudest moment in 7 years of Chumpcar racing. Good Luck !!!

I want to do this with my son Ian at a shorter race like the Sebring 10 hour in December.
