Mike Spirito
We have a 2004 mini cooper with the side windows is it legal for us to cover them in 3M safety film or must they come out??
Ron_e
If you have a close read of section 9.1 to 9.3 of the rules it should be pretty clear to you. 9.3 covers the side and rear windows.
Ogren-Engineering
Call Mike C . 3M tape them should be fine.
Mike Spirito
I have read the rules and they are not terribly clear
Ron_e
Looks to me like first event will get a waiver. E-mail Phil for clarification. Are you talking side front or side rear?
Mike Spirito
Just talking about the side windows in the back the front passenger and driver are already out

rod rammage
9.1.2. For cars and/or teams NEW to ChumpCar (first event), cars MAY retain original window and/or sunroof glass provided: 9.1.2.1. ALL glass is properly and thoroughly taped. 9.1.2.2. A ONE-TIME provision shall be noted in the vehicle log book. This is a single event waiver. 9.1.3. Tinted film is NOT considered legal or adequate protective tape. 9.1.4. Rear glass may remain in the car provided it is covered by a glass safety film like 3M makes. As others have said, if this is your first time event with Chumpcar, the rear side glass can remain with a waiver in the log book for that one event. They must be covered with 3M protectant film. For subsequent events, the glass is not allowed to remain in that position. I am reading this to mean that (rear) side glass cannot remain past the first event. The rear hatch glass can always remain, as long as it is covered in 3M film. Edited August 28, 2017 by rod rammage
Ogren-Engineering
I would still like the rule changed to allow glass. Tape it up and race . Please . Hanging on to a rule written by two guys that thought SCCA required all glass to be removed . Time to move on IMHO.
