PIRC Supplemental Rules:

Download and read the CCWS BCCR: http://chumpcar.com/rules.php Reading the rules is required by all CCWS drivers, crew and car builders. Pit, Paddock and Garage Supplemental Rules:

 

 SRPP1 – Pit lane spaces will be assigned.

 SRPP2 – No crew members are allowed over the wall until the team car has come to a complete stop in the pit box.

 SRPP3 – The Hot Pit Lane will be the exclusive fueling area. Fueling of race cars shall be completed by use of 5-gallon plastic jugs and funnels, hoses or other fueling adapters as specified in the ChumpCar BCR. Jugs must have sealable lids/caps. Metal fuel drums or other fuel containers and caddies with manual pumps (no electric pumps) and hose lines are allowed to re-fill plastic jugs but are not allowed for re-fueling race cars. All fuel storage must be maintained on the “cold” side of the pit wall or kept within your transporter.

 SRPP4 – All teams shall have one (1) fully-charged 10LB ABC fire extinguisher in their pit area.All teams shall have one (1) 10LB bag of kitty litter or other reasonable absorbent for oil leaks and/or fuel spillage in their pit area. Having a broom handy is also be advisable.

 SRPP5 –Drivers may remain in the car during fueling and driver changes may also be completed. All engines and electrical kill switches must be off during fueling. NO WORK ON ANY CAR SHALL BE COMPLETED DURING REFUELING.

 SRPP6 – All work and/or repairs that can be made to your race cars in under thirty (30) minutes may be executed in the Pit Lane; all repairs requiring more than 30 minutes time must be completed in the Garage Area. A penalty of 1 lap for every five (5) minutes of work in the pit lane that exceeds 30 minutes shall be levied.

 SRPP7 – All team members over the wall during fueling must wear a Nomex driver’s suit, gloves and full-face helmet.

 SRPP8 – Electric, propane or kerosene heaters within the “cold” side of the pit wall are allowed provided all heating elements or flame sources are directed away from any flammable material and are kept a minimum of 20’ from any fuel storage. No open flame stoves or BBQs are allowed in the cold pits.

 SRPP9 – All cars, used or junk parts too big for a normal trash can, empty fuel drums and anything else you brought with you must be taken out with you. If you leave it behind, we’ll track you down… and it won’t be pretty.

 

Test & Tune Information: Hosted by PIRC, TBA

 

Lighting: The pit lane has very limited lighting and minimal pit/paddock area lighting. Be advised that ambient lighting may not be sufficient for fueling or mechanical repairs. Therefore, teams are advised to consider alternate power and lighting sources. The use of EZ-ups on the “cold” side of the pit wall are also recommended for keeping out weather and hanging all lighting fixtures.

 

Electrical Hookups in Pit / Paddock: Minimal.

 

Pit Passes: Teams are advised that all team members, family, and guests who desire Pit Lane access MUST purchase a Pit Pass through ChumpCar at the track. ChumpCar members can obtain a free pit pass by showing their membership card.

 

Pets: They are welcome on property, but must be kept on a leash.

 

Children: No children 18 or under on pit road.

 

Camping: Self-contained RV camping is allowed Friday & Saturday night.

 

Barbecues: BBQ’s are allowed in the camping area only, provided all BBQ’s are supervised at all times, a fire extinguisher is within 15’ of the open flame, and all open flames are (at a minimum) 20’ from all race cars, fuel storage or other flammable sources.

 

Camping / Camper Hookups: None.

 

Bathrooms / Showers: Yes.

 

Gate: 24-hour gate coverage.

 

Concessions: Open Saturday & Sunday.

 

Pit Pass / Guest Pass:

 

Fuel on site: Credit card pumps.

 

Weather: We’re racing, regardless of the weather.

This is it, Final Information and Pit Assignments for Pittsburgh!

First: This is going to be a big event, we have over 60 cars registered. That also means it's going to be crowded, both on the track, and on pit lane. Please bear that in mind, and try to give the other teams room. Some of the pit-stalls are tripled up.

Pre-Race Grid: Because of the large car count, I'm bumping the time up. I need every car backed in their pit-stall, the driver in, ready to roll at 8:45 each day. I will explain the starting order at the Driver's Meeting, but I need you ready to roll at 8:45 so we can make a 9:00 start.

Tech and Registration: Will be up the hill in the event building. Tech for ChumpCar will close at 6:00pm. If you are running the Practice session Friday make sure you take the time to get your car through tech before 6:00pm.

Novice School: If this is your first time with ChumpCar, or your first race ever, please come to the meeting, 5:00pm Friday on the second floor above Registration.

Track Walk: We should be able to get about an hour of time to walk the track after the practice event closes.

Rigs Sunday Night: You can pack up your rig and leave it in the paddock Sunday night. If you plan to camp Sunday you must pay the track for the additional night.

Fuel: There is fuel at the track. 93 octane, 100, and 110.

Garages: If you have rented a garage from PIRC then you know where to head. If you decide at the track to rent a garage, please contact the track when you arrive.

RV Hook-Up Spaces: RV spaces with hook-ups must be booked through the track. Each space is assigned and will have a cone and the renter's name assigned. Please do not move the cones or rearrange the designated area.

Pit Assignments: Hopefully you have read the email down to here, but... In either case, your pit-stalls are assigned and can be found here.

Please notice that some spaces are tripled up. It's going to be crowded, and we will work with you to spread out some if spaces open up.

Tech for Practice: PIRC requires each car to present a self-completed tech form. The form is available on the registration website, or you can fill one out Friday at the track. Passengers and instructors will be required to have seats and safety equipment equal to that of the driver. Please keep in mind that the practice session is run and administered by PIRC, their decisions regarding tech, safety, and on track behavior will rule for the Friday event.

Clarification please on "No children under 18 on pit lane" ... I read that as no one under 18 over the wall.  Am I correct, or do I need to tell my daughter she can't even come to the race this year?  (Since the pits are nowhere near the paddock at PittRace)

Ok, a couple updates.

 

Camping at the track. We have the track beginning Friday, so we have no access for early arrivals on Thursday. There are about a dozen hook-ups for RV's available. They must be reserved by calling the track and booking ahead of time. Each reserved spot will be marked with the name and the team will be direct there when they arrive. 

 

Tents are allowed. If you need to set your tent into the ground you can use the grass area along the fence line at the back area of the paddock. If your tent is self supporting you can place it in your paddock area, but you cannot drive any stakes into the asphalt of the paddock.

 

Garages.. Garage rentals are being handled directly by the track. You must contact and book though them.

 

Someone asked about the age limit. No one under 18 is allowed in the pit area, this is defined as beyond the fence separating the paddock from the pits. There are lots of areas to see the track, including up on the second floor of the tower building. Hope that helps some.

 

We are arranging for teams to walk the track for about an hour after the test session on Friday. No motorized vehicles at all. Foot, bikes, roller skates, just no power driven devices.

 

The Test Session. The test session is being run by the track. You must book the event directly though them. You can find the event and register for it here at this link.

The details of how the event will be run are still being worked out. The final answer will be up to the track, but we are discussing things like passengers, passing zones, etc. Once we agree on the details I will publish them here and in a group email to the teams.
