I plan on removing the back seat/package shelf for sure. I’m going to get as creative with weight reduction as possible.

As far as the bars to frnot strut towers:

You win this round! Also, dang! I feel like I missed that or my old rule book is really old. Wait, I'm going to blame it on the mandela effect. :P

Edit. Neat, Rule "3.2.10 " allowed the engine bay bars. And below that was the max bar config. Which I guess looks the same as 2018. Anyway, I'm always nervous going though tech, I want to make sure the car is within the rules and I never want to risk adding laps to our race. The extra bars just triggered my worry button :)

There is still going to be points for this cage.

There are at least 7 bars behind the main hoop and a max of 4 are allowed.

I'm not a fan of the cage rules, and if the suspension pick up points are unchanged I don't think much if any performance gain of a "busier" cage. I would not remove the bars before going through tech at least once.

I agree 95%.  However, the rules are the rules.  You cant just disregard them because of how you feel.

Also, that bar that goes between the strut tops in the rear should be points due to it being a homemade strut bar.

Disregard them? I don't think so, I am a real stickler on rules. I said I would take the car to a race as is and see how it gets valued. If the bar that goes between the strut towers is welded to the towers themselves, then I agree on 10 points for a strut bar.

Can we agree 100% now?

I did kinda put words in your mouth..  Whoops!  I didn't mean to.

I agree that I would take the car through tech and see how it gets valued.  It better get valued with some points adder......

If that cage is zero pts adder, I would protest the crap out of it.

oh, and it is still a strut bar.  Why else is it there?  <_<

At what angle (away from parrallel to the line from tower to tower) and distance from the strut tower does this stop being a strut bar?

I'm with red0, not attached to the struts = not a strut bar!  Though, if its over the allowable number of bars behind the main hoop, I would not be surprised to see the value assisgned to "additional cage bar" to be very similar to the value of a strut bar! :D

Just got back from rooting around the local boneyard and came across something with interesting bones: '05 STS with longitudinal Northstar. Sigma chassis (CTS + 3 inches wheelbase) 320 hp.

Swap it into one of your kids Beemers.

I'm leaving the extra tubes in it just to cause more heartburn amongst my competition.

Fully expect to be protested as a tube chassis.

I would just protest any tubes that were extraneous to how the rules clearly spell out the max number of tubes in a legal non points adder cage.

If you like lugging weight around for no reason, go for it.

P.S. I want this caddy!  I bet it is gonna be a metric poop -ton of fun!

I feel the same. Wanted to do one but a manual isn't that easy to find.

Can't wait to see this thing lay down some laps.

Have a feeling... it's gonna be fast.

In order to be protested you must first get to impound.... and to do that you must first compete in a race :D

Made some progress on the home shop this weekend.  I’m going to bring The car home this week and start the Caddy on a diet.
