New Team- looking for a race ready car

Recommended Posts

New to Chump Car and looking for a race ready car.  Also new to racing therefore forgive my naiveté when it comes to racing terminology.  Live in Pennsylvania therefore open to vehicles located within the Northeast or Southeast US.  Text for quicker response.  717-379-3052.  Thanks, Ryan

Welcome to ChumpCar.  Lots of great racing opportunity with this league.

In order to help an idea of budget would be helpful.

Some avenues to follow:

- Check the listings here.  Example:

- try racing junk search for ChumpCar or SCCA.  Example: https://www.racingjunk.com/Other/182950984/BMW-635csi-Race-Car.html?quickSearch=1&categoryId1=&searchString=ChumpCar&offset=4&from=search

- try craigslist type in race car or roll cage.  You will have to weed through the drag racing cars with a cage but you can find some gems there

<Mostmind>, Thank you for the reply and guidance.  As for a budget, I don't know that I have given it much thought but from what I have seen it is incredibly inexpensive to get started.  I don't mind spending 10 or even 20k for the right complete package.  Thanks again, Ryan

Ryan - welcome to Chump!

That budget should get you a competent car.  No matter what car you buy, you will still have some debugging to do so save a little of your budget for that.  Even the best built cars require continuous care and feeding.  If you are new to racing, don't expect immediate results.  There are a lot of people here that have been racing for a long time and really know what they are doing.  You should look through the old posts here by similar new teams to gather the pearls of wisdom already available.  The one that I will repeat is the one that people seem to avoid:   The fastest add-on that you can put on your race car is a good driver (moral of the story - work on your skills more than the car's speed).  And a good driver cost zero points (you will soon learn what points are).

See you at the track!

I have a Ford E350 tow vehicle with a 5500 watt generator, 3 hp air compressor, workshop with air conditioning. A texas roll back trailer and a 2008 saturn SC2 chump car. The car has a well built cage [tig welded] bermbo 4 piston brakes and plenty of upgrades. If interested send me an e-mail at Whiton@sbcglobal.net. Both myself and my partner in crime are GM engineers that worked in GM race vehicle engineering so it is well constructed. Van and trailer are around $7500 and the car around 10,000. Haven't heard back for my friend, waiting to hear if he'd like to sell.   Let me know if interested and I can send photos. Frank
