Newbie Rules Question

apologies in advance if this has been covered, but a search of the site did not produce an answer to my question.

am planning on doing a brake booster delete on my e30, and as part of that would add a manual proportioning valve in the engine bay. wondering if a proportioning valve addition and associated plumbing will incur a penalty.

thx in advance for any guidance on this..

Is it stated in the rule book that an adjustable proportioning valve is zero points?  I didn't see anything that would cover this.

Chris

It used to be 25 points but is now free.

If they stated it in the rule book, that would add at least four words and people would complain about the length of the rules!

Hold on, what?   An adjustable proportioning valve is zero points?

I understand a master cylinder, that's replacing an existing item and falls under the 2x rule (and excludes fancy bias bar sets that fall above the 2x rule)

What happened to the rule, in the rule book, stating every part has a value?

4.4.2. There is NO SUCH THING as a free part, every part of a vehicle has a value. Parts not covered elsewhere in the rules will be assigned a point value by ChampCar Tech

A year or two ago I asked and was told the pedals / pedal set was free...  the prop valve was zero points and tech would consider the balance bar to be equivalent...   but while replacing the master was also zero points..  this did not cover the addition of a second master...  which tech would still asses 25 points...

not sure if that’s still Phil’s position but it was at that time...  pedals and prop valve and any single master is zero..  but add a second master for the balance bar and it’s 25 points ...  which used to be listed as the master fpv..  but is also no longer in the rules..

I wonder if you could find a balance bar, where the two masters were a single part :)  or maybe decide what you want then bore out a block of aluminum for the appropriate diameters and make a "single master" from two....  (or maybe just weld the two masters together)...

We took the path of least resistance based on the feedback in that thread listed above...  and just left it all alone...  we changed our front brake rotor diameter and played with the rear pads some and were able to balance it out for the dry, wet leaves us lacking some, but less to mess with, less to have set wrong, and less to fail...   I just dont see this being the item that makes you win...  but certainly could make you lose.

I'm pretty sure they added it to the FPV list as 0 at one point, but I see now it's no longer in there. Probably a case of trying to make the rules shorter and removing valuable information rather than wordiness and redundancy.
