Administrators Bill Strong Posted January 23, 2018 Administrators Report Share Posted January 23, 2018 Charlotte supplementals are up. I will have others done this week as well. Charlottehttps://champcar.org/register/supplementalrules/340.pdf We are racing the same track we raced at in 2016, with the exception of the added bus stop chicane into NASCAR 3. We are running that bus stop.
Administrators Bill Strong Posted January 23, 2018 Author Administrators Report Share Posted January 23, 2018 I will have better track maps up later. We are actually headed down to CMS today.
billwicker
Looks as though a chicane was added on the backstretch............please say it ain't so. Going in turn Nascar 3 wide open was half the fun.
IPF Racing
Is there normally a practice day for this race? We'll be coming from Michigan and haven't driven the track before.
DEE DEE
Bill, Can you add dates next to the days in the supps?
Old Guy Steve
Would like to attend a Friday practice as well. No one on our team has driven Charlette. Don't mind the bus stop though for our turbo Jetta. That would be a long full boost pull without it. Would have liked to run the layout NASCAR is using more though. carfan
can we vote to lose that stupid dog leg ?
miller184
We ran here in 2016 and it was our first time with no practice. It is an easy layout to learn but the SIM racing on our own helped. The chicane and dog leg are new and will add lots of complexity if you ask me. In 2016 it was a July race and the heat and braking from the speed took over half the field out. Our car made it and taking turn 2 all the way to the start finish wide open was crazy fun. Hoping we can make it after a quick turnaround from VIR.
IPF Racing
Videos alone have helped learn some of the track, but without some sort of practice session it might be difficult to dial the setup on the car in. The chicane will certainly be interesting, our tank of a car would definitely prefer the open straight.
miller184
Just noticed they also got ride of the crazy horse shoe type loop between turns 4 and 5. That really slowed the fast cars down in the infield.

jmabarone
Too bad it isn't a Double 7. Normal course the first day, figure 8 the second!

Black Magic
I can't remember, are lights required or can we rely on the track lighting being on for the last 1/3 of the race?
Bremsen
Lights are required. Its surprisingly dark in the infield section of the track at night. 1
Black Magic
We roasted the motor in the neon hour 3 of the race....so lights weren't the part i remembered.

Ha, I only remember from the sprint races a few years back....and even then I only made it about 1/2 way through before we had to quit. CMS has not been friendly to us. Black Magic
The sad part...took another race to figure out the issue. Apparently the air dam is not optional equipment on a neon....😞
Technical Advisory Committee Chris Huggins Posted February 12, 2018 Technical Advisory Committee Report Share Posted February 12, 2018 I will be coming from Raleigh to work or help out, if anyone wants a ride.
