Alchemy Autosport
So there is this car, and its a great deal for a roller with a cage already welded in but I am not sure if its a legal cage... I have concerns with the top cross bar, the harness bar and the A-pillar ankle posts. It doesnt seem to be illegal but I am not sure. What are everyones thoughts? LOL, it was an ecotec swap project but the guy is letting it go with none of those parts unfortunately... BUT I have an NB that I bought for cheap with a smashed up left rear quarter that I have been looking for something like this to swap to... takjak2
Cage design and bars all look legal. Welds need an inspection. Hard to tell but I would also look at I any boxing at the footers to prevent the cage from punching the floor
Members MR2 Biohazard
Those welds look really high and not sure it if really penetrated the metal or just really sitting up top. Foot intrusion bar on the pass side, but not drivers side. hmmmm Make sure you put the good sfi padding all around that seat wherever you head or hands or body will touch it in a roll over. CGDerian
The short answer is likely yes, but... agreed you'll want to inspect those welds Looks like a classic SM cage, those builders put bends in tubes for ingress/egress for the huskier drivers including that little tube between the main roll bar diagonal and the seat bar definitely add the anti-intrusion bar for the driver - it's as if the previous owner ran out of money right at the end of the cage build..."c'mon, I'm good for it" check the plate area at the 4 body attachment points around the driver meets minimum requirements triangulate the door bars to the dash bar There might be something in the rules about nodes being within 6", but even if that "node" passes tech, you wouldn't want to race it like that
mender
I'm assuming that the driver's seat mounting tabs are just for fitting purposes ...
Alchemy Autosport
SO my biggest concerns were those welds and the Foot areas. They are really far back compared to the cage we put in our current car... and without that anti-intrusion it needs to be addressed. I am also not sure of the legality of that little connector tube between the main hoop diag bar and the harness bar. I am very torn on this right now. I have a smashed up other NB car waiting for something EXACTLY like this but I dont want to create more work than its worth.
wvumtnbkr
I say check out the welds. If they look okay, this is a great start. Add 1 bar to the drivers side foot area and go race.

DRVOLKS
I am doing a TT so I will ask here can I run the back bar behind the seat 3 in? and can I do the same with the crossbar over to the center to make room for the driver helmet? MetalFusionSpeedZB
Looks like a kit from Advanced Autosports. Spec Miata shop.
JC_CRapshoot
Definitely not and Advanced kit. They triangulate at the main hoop and top door bar with the harness bar. Also their a pillar bar terminates at the rocker much farther forward towards the firewall.
55mini
If it is legal, which it may be no one on our team would be in that car with out a serious amount of work. Foot protection and better protection for the head of the driver for starters. Looks like the bars that tie to the tub are not plated well and would punch a hole to the ground? Thats how I feel about it too. I have another running car that is in rough shape that has all of the parts for this car. I was considering just putting it all together and selling it to help fund the season but I dont think I even feel comfortable with that...
