wvumtnbkr
1 question, 2 choices to answer... I am wondering what is YOUR best mod? the two categories are: 1) Best mod that gave you the most lap time reduction 2) Best mod that had the best bang for points ratio. Mine is actually the same mod. Increased Caster through modifying my ball joints (5 points), 3 seconds / lap at WGI. *I am going to monitor this thread to steal ideas from people to make my car faster... zack_280
Ignoring driver, probably the best mod for us so far is probably wider tires. Hard to say for sure because we also changed from Rivals to RS4s and did wing/splitter at the same time. I think tires had more impact than aero. *edit: I'd provide laptime comparison information, but we ran the full course this year at NCM vs the shorter course last year. We also were slightly broken at Barber last year vs this year, so that's not really a good comparison. Based on data at NCM, we were approximately ~2s/lap faster this year at the point where the courses diverge, which would have probably put us on par for FTD. This year Cone Crushers got us by 0.2 s at NCM.
mhr650
For my car MS3Pro no contest, the stock GSL-SE electronics were from the stone age. Pretty much the newer your car the less room for improvement, but on my car it was mega and way worth the 75 points I paid when I put it on, now at 0 points even better. Originalsterm
Big brake upgrade. All within the 2x rule, actually costs equal money in consumables, but the car stops MUCH better.
drKorf
All season tires. Drivers learned how to drive a sliding car, making them faster and safer. Also cost $40 per tire and last forever.
rod rammage
Don't discount the facility to keep a driver cool. Example: cooling shirt. How many mishaps/bonehead moves are the result of an overheated driver in motorsport? I bet more than we care to admit.

Technical Advisory Committee Andrew D Johnson Posted March 7, 2018 Technical Advisory Committee Report Share Posted March 7, 2018 Tape over the gauges, instead of going fast people were always complaining about oil pressure flickers and 225* water temp. Now the gauges are taped off and the drivers can worry about driving driving again.
mender
Went to a Trans Am WS6 power steering rack from the manual Fiero rack. Consistent effort, good feel and fast ratio to help keep the front end from following the back of the car through corners.
pintodave
Well, since you are going to poach ideas from this thread... I'd say the 28 lbs of boost with no tune on 87 octane. Wicked fast In all seriousness, from racing the Camaro a few races and then seeking the "what's next" improvement item, the big front bar gets the win. HUGE difference in lap times as-tested at Sebring.

We raced our first car for three years before doing a build from scratch. We built our second car and threw a bunch of mods at it before the first race so I can't tell which single one was best. First race weekend was a shake-down, second race weekend was a win and a third place.

Now i tell them if its maxed then start to worring.

We were working on the car last weekend and needed it, went to lay hands on my container and it was gone. Panicked, still not sure what happened to it, gotta buy another one now. Bremsen
1) Best mod that gave you the most lap time reduction - Swap to turbo spec gave me a huge reduction in lap time. Flip side is we have yet to finish a race since. So, while my lap times have reduced significantly so has my overall track time and disposable income. Charlotte race is going to be my watershed moment most likely, if we DNF (again) I'm going back to NA. 2) Best mod that had the best bang for points ratio - Probably chopping the ends off the front control arms and installing heims. 10pts and a number of benefits. Same here, including the first weekend shake-down and second weekend win; lazy Canadians that don't want to pay their dues before winning. Built the car with all the mods from the start so can't point to one and say it was the big one other than the engine swap that seemed to work out very well. The power steering rack that I added for the second weekend didn't make the car faster but it made it much nicer to drive. It was 40 points when I first did it but now is apparently driver comfort so zero points. I'm going through the suspension to clean up a bunch of things that the 2013 rules didn't allow room for and expect to see about 1 second a lap from better braking and corner entry. That being said, I expect that: 1) Best mod that gave you the most lap time reduction Will be from running better tires.
