Snorman
So Admin is locking threads now to prevent the exchange of information and discussions? Seriously? @Bill Strong locked the "What Happened To Your Chumpcar" thread with an ongoing discussion about fuel and the ever-entertaining "Protests" thread, which really had some concerning revelations relative to items on which members may (or may not) have been given free passes from Tech. @chisek often reminds membership that "this is your club". We pay lots of money as paying customers and members for annual memberships and registration fees to support this club. That's where nearly all of the revenue originates (based on what I saw in the BoD call minutes, we haven't yet seen the financials). C'mon guys...you can't go locking threads to prevent discussion of topics that might not put Champcar in a necessarily flattering light. That's how you're going to drive people away and stop participation. Worse, you're going to stop meaningful discourse which could be beneficial to the club. See everybody at Daytona this week. Voodoo Child
Having been around or participated in differing forms of motorsports for quite some time, from karting to CART, I have come to realize there is no perfect set of rules (not that I ever tried to take advantage of them <smile>). The participants, and board, have uncovered a problem with the swap calculator and the way the rules have been implemented. I (for one) have tremendous respect for Mike and Phil and know they are taking this very seriously and working very hard on a short and long term solution that is fair and in the best interest of the competitors and the series. Let's be a little patient and see what information comes out this week. 7
ElectricGold
Given that most of the issues only get discovered from such threads existence, locking them seems counter-intuitive. Just my 0.02. 9
wvumtnbkr
This too shall pass.... I definitely wouldn't have done the swap I did if I knew it would cost me 150 pts instead of 50. He'll, I would have just swapped in the turbo engine and ported it and made even more hp for 100 less points (I wouldn't need the header or trans swap)
JDChristianson
I'm going bet this ends with not having to take turbo points. 1
Ron_e
Conversely I think some BMW teams may lose their aero or be in the pits repairing rocker arms. Likely MR2 will remain at 200. What are the odds on each event?
LAMR2
The "what happened" thread got replaced with a new one. Lots of forums have rules on how many pages a thread can have in an effort to keep things organized and reduce server load. It's probably a combination of those two. As for the protests thread, yeah, that seems like someone screwed up and caused an uproar, so they decided to quiet the masses while they work on a fix.
Administrators Bill Strong Posted April 4, 2018 Administrators Report Share Posted April 4, 2018 Official news release: Bill Strong does not change anything in the BCCR unless directed to do so by the BOD. Even if it is to fix a misspelled word. Most of the BOD is either on their way, or will be on their way to Daytona right now. Please keep all discussions civil. If not. They will be locked.

I'm with you Bill @Bill Strong I know I come off as passive aggressive at times, but I had one question. so we have 944 turbo's(951) and 944 turbo S's (951S) listed on the VPI points list, but no eclipse/talons turbo's or mr2's turbo's? why the oversight? I know there are probably a dozen members that would help volunteer(FREE) at every race to help tech and help form a platform review committee and help answer members questions on new builds and swaps. 12 eyes and ears are always better than two. @chisek I know Phil and Mike are overwhelmed doing it by themselves and one person shouldn't be held accountable for mistakes or legitimate oversights. your my huckleberry buddy, and I've never even met you. see you at daytona. Hence, why I believe the series needs an elected Tech Committee to provide clarification of BCCR provisions, VPI's, etc.. Similarly, I do not believe that one person should be making decisions for the series because there should be a checks and balances. IMO, they should be elected by the membership to avoid any illusions of impropriety. Just IMO. If the members elect them, nobody can complain that they aren't being unbiased or unfair, lol. nissanguy38501
Maybe what we need is for one guy to sit on his computer a few nights a week and collect info on every car model out there and list them for review. I'd be willing to do that as long as I get some beer out of the deal...

Same goes for the SRT4 and the GNX (before all the big, bad Buicks got black-listed ). I think a lot of the turbo cars were relegated to "Note 2" status to try and clean up the VPI chart. Ron_e
Just need to data mine this site, I have found it to be the most accurate for vehicle weight, fuel tank size, hp, gear ratios, etc.: http://www.automobile-catalog.com/ then add specific options from member knowledge such as coolers, sway bar sizes, etc.
hotchkis23
Heck, I would trade a few(8) hours of time for say....$100 off an entry fee into a race? Similar to volunteering at an actual event.

zack_280
From now on when you post on this forum, you need to preface your post with these words "With all due respect" For example: With all due respect (and I mean it when I type 'with all due respect'), @Bill Strong ain't worth a velvet painting of a dolphin and a whale gettin' it on. 1
