door bar spacing question

Recommended Posts

Hello all. I am building my first Champ car (not my first race car). I am confused by the terminology in the rules for door bar spacing. The rule says The spacing between the fore and aft terminal ends of all door bars (including X-design) must include a separation of no less than six inches of open space when measured at the centerline of each bar. I understand 6 inches of open space until I read "when measured at the centerline of each bar" part. What does the centerline have to do with it? Is it 6 inches open space or 6 inches from center of top door bar to center of bottom door bar? Can someone clarify this for me? Thanks.
