turbogrill
Hi, I am looking to buy a shell that has a chumpcar cage and it has passed tech. However when looking close to some welds I am not sure if they are so great, they look "flimsy". It's a bit surprising since it has been built by a reputable race shop that used to do a lot of the spec miata locally. If some of these welds are not good enough, is it possible to just reweld them? I don't know anything about welding.
VegasNick
Seen better....seen worse. Not sure what the Champ folks will say. I think they meet "good enough" standards but not as pretty as good TIG welding.
Ian
Hard to say without being able to see discoloration. Penetration > Beauty. Just because it's pretty doesn't mean it's strong.
Black Magic
Those don't scare me. But it would have been nice to see another click hotter om the welder. You can always get the paint off and run a very hot bead on top.... Edited April 22, 2018 by Black Magic
