gr1vlet
Long, long ago someone posted some gloves that looked and functioned like a mechanix glove but were (supposedly) heat resistant. Does anyone recommend a certain brand or type? Or do we just man up and use standard gloves?
cagedruss
No, just kidding. Have you checked the website for Mechanixwear? They have many specialty gloves.
Rodger Coan-Burningham
In over 5 years racing we have yet to have to face this in a race, so no input on the original question however I did see a good idea from one of the teams at NCM, think it was R Bank. They tossed the lug nuts in a pan of water. Awesome idea. Although we have never had to do a pad change during a race, we were there for the first time and didn't know it when we lost the fuel pump at NCM. I blame our super cheaty secret brake compound supplier for a bad batch. Edited July 31, 2018 by Burningham

enginerd
I just use welding gloves. Have changed these parts when hot, but not quite '1 minute off the track in the middle of a race' hot.
