Summer (and the heat) are over.  At least that's what I'm told.  Time for some cooler racing weather in Pittsburgh!

It's been a hot summer.  Even hotter in the car, unless you had a Coolshirt.  Our PIRC event is the start of cooler Fall weather racing for us and I look forward to it every year.  Read below to get some information to help your weekend go a little smoother.

Gates - Gates will open at 8am Friday if you are registered for the test day.  If you are not participating in the test day, you can enter starting at 2pm Friday.

Paddock - There is enough room in the paddock for everyone but not enough room for everyone to sprawl.  Please be considerate to your fellow racers when setting up your space.

Garages - PIRC has garages available for rent.  Contact the track directly at 724-535-1000 to reserve one, if any are still left.

Tech - If you have not had your 2018 annual tech yet, bring your car through tech when you arrive.  Bring all your paperwork filled out.  Make sure you have read the rules.  Swap cars with no paperwork will likely be put in EC.  Tech opens at Noon on Friday.

Registration - Make sure you tech first, then bring your yellow logbook and tech sheet signed by us directly to registration.  Before you arrive, log in and check your driver roster for accuracy.  Make any corrections ahead of time.  If you are fully paid with the correct drivers, check-in is a 3 minute process.  If you are not coming (work issue, car issue, etc), email me to let me know you will not be there.

Novice School - 5pm Friday, held in scoring tower classroom.

Pit Assignments - Here are your pit assignments

Test Session - PIRC is hosting a test day on Friday.  Detailed info can be found here - https://www.motorsportreg.com/events/pitt-race-full-track-test-tune-pittsburgh-international-compl-836013

A reminder: read through and print out the Supplemental Rules for this event here.

If you have any questions about registration, please contact Andrea Chisek here.  Any other questions you can contact me here.

We're looking forward to seeing you all in PA!

  • 2 weeks later...

Does anyone know of a tire changing machine or a garage that is close that can change tires late on Friday. We want to run old tires for practice on Friday and change onto new ones for the race. We just don’t have enough wheels to support 2 cars for the weekend.

Thanks,

Jay

Cheese cake makes your drivers faster.  Especially Bailey's cheese cake with Fireball cherries.

Chrissycheesecake makes whatever you can dream up, and I'll be delivering cheesecakes at this race.

Send requests to me, or message chrissycheesecake on Facebook at https://m.facebook.com/Chrissycheesecakegmr/

You know you want some. 😁

You had me at fireball cherries.

Is this the debut of the new car?

@Bill Strong didn’t see it in the BCR or supps but wanted to know the minimum number of drivers for this event. We had one bail on use which leaves two. If memory serves me that is allowable for a race up to 8 hours. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Minimum numbers are listed in the BCCR

how hard are you going to drive?  It's often nice to scrub in new tires before a race when you can anyway.

That very well may be true but I just reread them, granted on my phone, and didn’t see it. I remember it being in older versions. I do see a line on the rules page of the website that says

ChampCar has various race formats, but they generally range from 7 hours to 24 hours. You’ll need a minimum of 2 drivers for most events,”

Endurance Races:

                  less than 8-hours - Two (2) drivers minimum;

                  9-16 Hours - Three (3) drivers minimum;

                  17-hours and above - Four (4) drivers minimum.

It was removed at some time prior to me, but this is from Mike.
This will also be the rule # 6.4 for 2019 as I just put it back in the 2019 BCCR

Thanks. That looks familiar but seeing how I couldn’t find it I just wanted to verify.

Officials who say "it's in the book" when it really isn't, rub me the wrong way.

Snarky officials, @Bill Strong are the reason a lot of us race here instead of SCCA.

LeMons changed their driver minimum rule, and sent me an email to announce it, and I haven't raced with them since 2009.
