wvumtnbkr
There are a bunch of choices for 4 lug light strong wide 15s. Anybody know where I can get some in a 5 x 114.3 (5 x 4.5) pattern?
ABR-Glen
Not exactly light at 19 lbs https://www.summitracing.com/parts/usm-u10215906550 Edited October 14, 2018 by ABR-Glen
mender
17x9s for better airflow around your brakes: https://www.good-win-racing.com/Mazda-Performance-Part/61-1740NC.html 17.75 lbs.
wvumtnbkr
17s make the gearing and ride height not so good. Driving the car on 17s makes it feel like it actually is a minivan!
Black Magic
Rob your fighting the hard fight....i use 15×8 and 15x10 steelies on the neon. The same weight or lighter than the wheel listed above, i think 20 for the 15x10. Otherwise it is hard to find cheap stuff in 15x10 5 lug. If you see something let us know. I found several options but to get lighter than the $80 steelies was gonna be 300 a wheel....
wvumtnbkr
I refuse to go back to steel wheels... I swear they bend if you look at them funny.
Team Infiniti
Lightweight alloy wheels do the same.

They dont need to be that lightweight (not looking for a weight reduction with new wheels). The steel wheels would go about 1 raceday before the car vibrated all over the track!
Scribe
We use these on my team's Volvo 960 wagon/pickup truck: https://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/69139/10002/-1 I think they are around 19 lbs and they withstood a pretty good hit yesterday from a Ford Escort at the Lemons race at Gingerman.

mhr650
This is the reason why when I needed to update my first gen from the oddball 4X110 I chose to go 4X100 instead of 5 lug. Anything that fits an E30 and Miata will give you the most choices and lowest prices. The Jongbloed JRW Series 500 wheels are fantastic and very reasonable priced.

rod rammage
That picture is of a steel wheel, yes?
wvumtnbkr
Yes. And yes, that is a curb. That would have destroyed any wheel short of an off road specific wheel. I'm talking about the steel wheels just getting trashed from mounting unmounting, small impacts, etc...
rod rammage
Anybody have opinions as to how well cast wheels hold up to curb impacts opposed to flow formed wheels? (I have some heavy forged wheels that have survived some serious beatings on the track in endurance races and am just curious about the cheaper cast and flow formed offerings). wvumtnbkr
It is my understanding that they do not hold up as well, but still perform well if it is a well designed and built wheel.

It is part of the decision matrix as I am thinking about building a new car that can take advantage of the any turbo for 100 points rule. One car has 4X114 and I can easily make adapters just like I have now to get to 4X100, the other car uses 5X120, getting from 5 to 4 lug is difficult since you have multiple studs wanting to occupy the same space.

Coming from the Festiva world, I have an extensive list of the 4X4.5 wheels, weights, and what they come on. But the 5X4.5 is a little harder. I'm at an interesting junction here with 5x4.5 on the front and 4x110 on the rear. I know we have discussed a weld on adapter to convert the rear to 5x4.5 but if I picked up a set of 4 bolt front hubs and drilled everything 4x100 I might open up a lot more wheel options. I don't know that I NEED a 15x10 with such a light car but I would have the option to do it if I wanted.
