Racer28173
So I haven't seen it mentioned in the forums all weekend (and that has really surprised me since the trunklid of a particular car has garnered a lot of action). So there is a red flag video on FaceBook that says we are going to have the Championship race at Charlotte this year. 14 hour, one day. The week after the Road America race. I have to admit that I don't love that track - maybe some of you can talk me into wanting to go..... (if there is already a thread on this that I somehow missed, reply and I will do my best to delete this one or edit the title to indicate it is redundant) Edited October 29, 2018 by Racer28173
JC_CRapshoot
Just so long as we have REAL curbing on the back stretch this time and not cones to run into. The continuously reconfigurable track layout in 2017 isn't good enough for a championship event.
Administrators Bill Strong Posted October 30, 2018 Administrators Report Share Posted October 30, 2018 Per Mike. We will not be running any bus stops. It will be balls-wide-open NASCAR3 and the Tri-Oval. Bring your big boy panties. 2
Technical Advisory Committee Chris Huggins Posted October 30, 2018 Technical Advisory Committee Report Share Posted October 30, 2018 Check your brakes... at least one slower zone to protect us from blasting at 140+ into the zero run off turn 1 would be nice. 1
Administrators Bill Strong Posted October 30, 2018 Administrators Report Share Posted October 30, 2018 Huggy... big boy panties. We have done this track before with little issue. It hugely fun. I almost won this race twice. So you have a good chance of doing well in your little e30. Oh, and my top speed on the track was 124mph. same for Troy.
Jer
I have driven every configuration, and my favorite is with no horseshoe and no chicane. What a blast! I will be a hired gun for this one. I just need a ride. 1
Team Infiniti
No chicane? Sweet! This place is best without one 18 minutes ago, Huggy said: Check your brakes Charlotte has not really been a brake killer but it is a great idea to be on your toes (tows?) Please dbbl check your wheel torque, we have been around awhile, at one point almost winning if it weren't for a 12th hr crash, never a wheel issue till getting complacent/half heat stroked @ charlotte in 16, properly checked our lug torque pre-race and forgot to check midday, hour 12 had the RF loosen. Note to self: If/when we ever go back, need to do a serious checklist around 4th fuel stop/hour 10 Edited October 30, 2018 by Team Infiniti
Technical Advisory Committee Andrew D Johnson Posted October 30, 2018 Technical Advisory Committee Report Share Posted October 30, 2018 Is this the layout then? If that is the case, it might actually be interesting.
Guest E. Tyler Pedersen
This is one that I'll be doing in my car with all the aero drag.

Thats slower than VIR, do you have to lift in Nascar3/4?

We did MIS in the Subaru with the SVX and the M50 powered e30. We did 142 mph in the Subaru. It was fun!
Jer
We never lifted in the Miata and got to 128 coming out of 4. At least that's what the speedo said so I'm going with it!

If you lost brakes going into T1, wouldn't you just continue on the oval?

Jer
Maybe w're smarter. It seems like we lose 1-3 cars every year there. out of 70. racing for 12 hours

Jer
Someone would blast through and kill a car re-entering the oval. I think the Charlotte roval is the best in the country.

If it was cones, you could at least control your own destiny instead of just crossing your arms and going Danica on it.
