Administrators Bill Strong Posted October 31, 2018 Author Administrators Report Share Posted October 31, 2018 Please download the supps again if you just downloaded them before this post was made. Laguna Seca has added a break for the corner workers, so ChampCar will red flag the race at noon for one hour. The race ends now at 5pm. You get your FULL 7-Hour race. Red flag rules are posted in the Supps. SRPP11 - RED FLAG Lunch break for corner workers. Laguna Seca requires that the corner workers get a half-hour break. We are giving them one-hour. The race will be red-flagged at noon. All cars will be brought down pitlane. All work must stop on cars in the pit and paddock. Drivers will exit cars, and you may remove in-car data cards/cameras. No work will be allowed on the cars. Drivers will be called back to the cars at 12:45 pm. You may only re-insert datacards and cameras, and add ice to your cool suit boxes when the race restarts. Driver stints reset. You must do one lap before you can pit, unless car is broke on pitlane, then you can start your pitstop after the cars on track have taken the green flag. Alchemy Autosport
Verified with Morrison that we can camp in the paddock as well. Requires a fee to pay for the 24hr in-out access though so expect that extra fee if you plan to do so. District Motor Club
Hi All. We're a new team from SF/SJ doing our first race. Please stop by and give us some Hello's. We are also accepting: tips, sympathy, light mocking, free beer and "you're not suppose to do that"'s. Doug & Rob
Alchemy Autosport
@District Motor Club Hmmmmmm, if you are looking for any of those things, setting up a free beer stand of your own will do wonders!!! What are you running? And welcome to the club!
District Motor Club
@Alchemy Autosport Ha. Your right. Instead we may start handing out beers to everyone as soon as we get there, as a preemptive strategy! We've got an e36 328i. I think we'll be starting with a few penalty laps.
Voodoo Child
Welcome to Champcar! What a great venue to pick for your first race. Looks like a slight chance of rain-but if it does you have a great chassis for sloshing around with. The 3 series cars are quick in all conditions-but seem to have an unfair advantage in the rain! We'll stop by and say hello.
District Motor Club
@Voodoo Child Thanks! Hopefully the weather will hold up (although were not afraid of a little rain here to keep it exciting) we'll have our hands full figuring things out as it is. Looking forward to it! -Doug
Ian Moone
What are the sound restrictions? I see in the sups it is strictly enforced @ 90dba. I see on the Canine series they have it listed as strictly enforced @92. Says they paid an extra $3k for the higher level. WTF? What's with the 1 hour lunch break? Did they throw that in after the dates were booked? Just asking.................................................
FlorahDorah
Not only all that but there is an additional tariff for the number of cars on the track...in the thousands. It will be more expensive to race at Laguna Seca.

Iam
Looking forward to running this track with Rusty Rotors! Been practicing on iRacing, but i have a feeling it doesn't do the track justice! See everyone Friday.

What's with the 1 hour lunch break? Did they throw that in after the dates were booked? Just asking................................................. The one hour lunch break is a nod to compliance with the state of California's workplace laws that require workers do not work a straight eight hours without a break. This is a state law and the track and it's renters must abide by it. Sound restrictions are STRICTLY enforced by a State Park Employee in a sound booth. Every lap. Every day. 365 days a year. This is a legacy from a local neighbour who's brother was struck and killed by a car leaving the facility about a thousand years ago. That Laguna Seca is able to operate among its neighbours today is a testament to the spirit of co-operation on their part. The fact remains, that for Laguna Seca to operate in their historic location, they must have strictly enforced sound regulations. Hence, the limited number of cars allowed on the course and the sound tester. Fun fact: there are a limited number of days in the year when higher noise limits are allowed. They cost dearly. A few years ago when Mercedes previewed their Black model, they did it at Laguna Seca at great expense for the sound penalty. Like in the tens of thousands of dollars. There is also a healthy up-charge to breach the number of cars allowed on the track by all of four cars. Google Laguna Seca exhaust pictures and you will see what some lengths cars go to mitigate sound. Hint: The booth is on driver's right. The legal limit on the streets to and from the track and all over the state is 95dba. Sounds like hogwash if you ask me. It is what it is.and that's the way it is. I thought the Indy cars were returning to Laguna in 2019. That will ruffle some feathers with their noise levels, regardless of the penalties paid!
