mender
Recent comments have made me wonder what the threshold of "enforceable" is. I understand that there is a limited amount of time for tech after the race because everyone wants to leave and the track wants to shut down, but should that impact rule enforcement? Is there a reasonable time window that Champ uses to decide what is enforceable and what isn't? Rules have been changed to reflect what's happening in tech; because they haven't been enforced or even checked, we once again have more freebies. For example: 1. Final drive and/or transmission ratios. RWD is dead simple to check, FWD more involved but doable. Not checked in 2018 so new freebies for 2019. 2. Fuel capacity. New rule in 2018 to eliminate ballooning but no checking to see if capacity has changed, only visual. Vent rule messes with the accuracy of a fuel check. 3. Bore and stroke. Solutions discussed but no indication that plans are being made. This isn't NASCAR but there has to be some assurance that the rules are being followed.

When we were teching cars at Road Americe, Jay was telling teams would would indeed being doing pump outs to measure capacity in 2019, so there is that.

Good to know! Any other signs of progress? And by the way, thank you for getting weights! Edited November 1, 2018 by mender

There were a lot of teams having to take points for things "that had been on the car for years". They were also very open and candid with teams when an issue arose. There wasn't any bargaining or secret handshakes happening. If an issue arose that they felt they needed to get more input on, they would text or call Mike and get his final opinion. I won't be surprised at all to see all 3 things on your list become a standard part of the process, but think they want to make sure they have an accurate and fair way to do it before they go that route.
mender
Sounds encouraging! So can the general membership help sort enforceable vs awkward rules? Is there a process in place now for deciding which rules are most likely to impact finishing order and therefore (should) have a higher priority in getting on the essential tech list? Or barring that, which rules are presently needing a reasonable means of checking them in tech?
rod rammage
I am interested to know how a pump out is to be executed. Will they be using our pumps? Will we need to provide an easy and accessible means to energize our pumps? Will they be running our pumps until they start to cavitate? Will we need to ensure that we have enough fuel on hand after the race in order to present a full tank of fuel for inspection?
Racer7x
Just knowing that sh*t might get checked and questioned now is a step in the right direction...
