E36 water pump. Whats a good one for our 2.8 car?

Buying the cheapest German brand pump with a metal impeller (cast or sheet metal) has worked fine for me, so far.

Looks like I've bought 3 of these so far with no issues to report:

I'm sure plenty of people here run the $tewart one, but I think having all the plastic and rubber parts be new is all that's really needed for reliable cooling in an E36, no need for "upgrades"

We were always charged for changing from a mechanical to electric fan in the past, but that was in the west.  10 points.

The ad says:

  • 15% flow increase
  • Twice as efficient as a factory pump

Therefore non-OE and points.

I guess they'll have to claim points for those new, non-oe, more efficient alternators too😊

If they put out more amps you sure would.

How about that more efficient, non-oe power steering pump...

The day we see power steering pumps, alternators and water pumps on the points list is the the day the series is on the way down...

FYI, you may want to read the 2019 rules and see that power steering components are indeed on the list and free so you go ahead and buy that super efficient power steering pump.  Also I don't think that the series is on its way down.

You also go ahead and run an unclaimed electric drive water pump, let me know when you plan on hitting the podium and I will mail in my protest form to tech.  Don't forget to claim your non-OE pulley to drive the water pump, FYI if you don't know they are 5 points for one or 10 points for multiple and that needs to be claimed too.

The water pump that your complaining about isn't electric driven? Time change have you a little out of sorts?

Let's see, $2,500 Haltech's and the $500 drums of race fuel to go with it are free, but you have an issue with power steering pumps, alternators and water pumps😃

I agree. I do understand points for upgrading a water pump. Iv had a track Miata, RX-7 and now the CRX none have ever had power steering. In fact I took the power steering out of my street RX-7 FD.
