Hoping to do a non-cage, full weight 350Z  test day at Road Atlanta in a month, just tires, brakes, off the shelf shocks and “oem” springs.

Not that you need it, but our old teammate Derek has EI Racing and has a metric poop ton of experience with those cars (and pretty much any Nissan from the last 25 years). He's in Deland and if you ever need any support give him a call.

Looks like it ran under inflated but it wasn’t. This is a symptom of 8 degrees of uncontrolled camber. Strut was crushed where it was clamped in the spindle. This had to feel weird.

True to form, today I unloaded the E30 from the trailer where it's been since Daytona. For VIR we replaced the clutch, the driveshaft center bearing and the revshift M54 swap guibo. It was a broken center bearing that out us out at the VIR 24 the last time we went there in 2016. Now it's time to add some Condor front brake ducts since the front rotors are cracked again.

IPF easy button would be a new car :-)

When you find that button I could use a couple also!

Haha I'll let you know if I find one! Not everything on the list was necessary but certainly worth the time before Gingerman!

Forgot about this too, I had a driver at NCM reach through the steering wheel to hit one of the buttons on the gauge right before a turn and ran off course. Not letting that happen again; steering wheel mount.

Decided mock up was good enough, bolted fenders, hood and bumper on.

Reinstalled alternator that was moved for welding patches.

Started rebuilding radiator support, forgot how tricky it was stuffing the explorer radiator in there six years ago, going to take a little more time to get right.

Hopefully Monday radiator will be located properly.

Saturday, we updated our list:

IMG_3887.jpg.1e4d5bb3c13f6974db6716284b6b16a2.jpg

We got FIFI off the trailer pretty easy with a harbor freight wheel dolly:

But it didn't like attempting to go up the hill:

So we moved on to the next idea:

Which worked but we were pretty sure it wouldn't make it up the steep driveway, so we broke down and put in a new trailing arm and pulled most of the broke stuff out:

STANCE IS LIFE BRO:

Got her up the hill and in the garage.  Prognoses isn't great right now, lots of broke/bent stuff.  Might be time for a new chassis.

found out while racing in Road Atlanta with the 'other series' that our LSD is not working.  it was the only thing we didn't replace in the build,  able to score the last factory LSD and since gear ratios are free now, we are going to try the automatic rear end ratio.

That is cool.  I applaud your build of this beast.

I will say that I didn't see all of this "free" stuff happening even 3 or 4 years ago and it kind of shocks me to see such nice shiny parts being displayed for use in this race series.

Carry on!  I'll be over here telling kids to get off my lawn.

honestly i don't agree with the open gear ratio rule but if they are going to open it up we are going to abuse it.  The parts weren't exactly expensive, everything was got off amazon or from summit, mustang parts are dirt cheap.

I figured they weren't that pricey!

No offense meant against your car (don't think you took offense, just clarifying).

Good on you!  These are the rules we are playing with!

Last night I spent 3 hours on the phone with HP arguing to get the part number for a ribbon cable to plug in a second hard drive on my new laptop.  After sorting that out I got Tuner Studio installed for the RX-7 as well as RomRaider and TIS Techstream for my street cars.  It didn't make much sense to install software if I was just going to return the thing after work today.  I finally got to pull codes on the Prius and found that my issue a couple weeks ago where it suddenly decided to go full electric leaving for work and wouldn't fire the gas engine was because of an immobilizer fault.  Since then it's done almost 1k miles and dozens of drive cycles so I think it was just a low battery?

Anyway, on to important racecar things.  I also finally pulled the wiring harness out of my trunk that @wvumtnbkr pulled from a parts car to give the factory ECU(s) one more shot.  Hopefully I can get that in tonight, and get the upper intake back on.  Assuming it starts I'll rewire the chassis and call it a day, if not, I'm sitting on a MegaSquirt that I believe is wired correctly for the 13b, and at the cost of a wiring harness for it thinking I'm just going to install it and see what happens.  I've not been able to simulate the crank angle sensor so I'm stuck on how to make sure the MegaSquirt ECU is actually wired right so that may just be wasted effort.  Option C is to drop a GM 3400 in and call it a day.  It would basically drop in since we already put one on the same subframe in #556, aside from building headers.  As more and more things become free I'm hoping by the time I'm done building I will be able to afford to swap in E30 or 2nd Gen RX7 IRS by the time I finally get this thing on track again.
