2019 Official NCM Motorsports Park - NCM Test Day - ChampCar 8+7 Hour Enduro

Recommended Posts

Sorry guys, Once NCM is over, I have to hightail it home, do a very fast turn-around (laundry, gear check) and hop on an airplane on Tuesday for Los Angeles where I am doing a video shoot at Wilwood.
I won't be bringing all the tech to NCM.

These are great ideas though, but they go beyond our PG13 rating.

Bring a fan, this one is hot.  It's time for NCM!

Who would have thought that Kentucky is hotter than Texas or Georgia in June?  Bring the ice and lots of water, I'll have our Coolshirt tank running for everyone again.  We've got another large field on a great track so the racing action should be as hot as the weather.  Read on for event details.

Gates - The main gates will open at noon on Thursday.  So if you get there early and want to drop off your trailer, have at it.

Paddock and Parking - The NCM paddock is huge.  Like bigger than anything we go to.  So space is not a concern here.  Two things: 1) we ask that you do not park in the RV spots along pit road unless you reserved one of them through NCM.  If you park there without a reservation they will ask you to move.  And 2) if you reserved a garage, you get to park in the painted space in front of your garage.  If you park in a garage spot and didn't rent a garage, we'll ask you to move.

Camping - Free, but bring a generator.

Test Day - NCM is hosting a test day on Friday.  For info and to register go here: https://motorsportspark.org/events/ncm-test-day-champcar/

Pit & Garage Assignments -
Click here for your pit assignments.  Some of you will be making new friends!  Click here for your garage assignments.

Transponders If you entered a transponder number (or entered anything really) while you where registering we assume you're bringing your own.  Please verify that you have entered the correct number or that you reserved a transponder if you're not supplying your own.

Tech - All cars will need to be tech'd for 2019 unless you've had your 2019 annual tech completed.  Bring all your paperwork filled out and make sure you have read the rules.  Swap cars with no paperwork will likely be put in EC.  Tech opens at 1PM on Friday.  Decals will be handed out at Tech and will be required to pass tech. Decal locations are shown in the BCCR appendix.

Registration - Make sure you tech first, then bring your yellow logbook and tech sheet signed by us directly to registration.  Before you arrive, log in and check your driver roster for accuracy.  Make any corrections ahead of time.  If you are fully paid with the correct drivers, check-in is a 3 minute process.  If you are not coming (work issue, car issue, etc), email me to let me know you will not be there.

Novice & New to ChampCar School - 5PM Friday in the Holley Scoring tower.

A reminder: read through and print out the Supplemental Rules for this event here.

If you have any questions about registration, please contact Katherine Miller here.  Any other questions you can contact me here.

We're looking forward to seeing you all in KY!

Its cost effective and hides dents well.

I think racing contact dents are also a racing neon trait with high correlation..... :)

Open Round Table Discussion on Friday

I want to attend this.  Do you have a time set out yet?

I am driving to the track on Friday and if I need to leave earlier to make this I would like to plan accordingly.

Thank you, Bill.

Offhand I would say in the early evening. Most of us will be running the test day and then we have the ChampCar Commentators Cup at the kart track.

We leave Eastern Iowa at 6 am.  Should put us in sometime between 3:30 and 4 if all goes well.  We will be happy to swing over and say hi!

Absolutely!  We look forward to seeing everyone, this is our first real race outside of the few times we've been to Gingerman

Did you see 3 neons are going....how did that happen?

Usually they don't let that many of us near each other....or schools for that matter.....

Come to Road America, there are usually 4-6 that race that event.  Sometimes even 10!  Never seen that many on the streets even.

One of my partner teams has raced there. One of the many black neons (mine was also half black....it's a neon thing).... I think the current rule limitations on the neon would make it nearly impossible to win there (even in the car i am building), but for fun we could run it.

Is the lack of gen 1 neons on the street a real thing? In the south we still have them around, craiglist ads of neons pop up every week.

Up here in the north and the land of salty winter roads, yes.  Almost anything from that era seems to suffer, or they get bought up and become entry level dirt cars or demo cars.

So...what should have been a quick 2ish hour load up and discussion over beer and pizza turned into quite the experience....6 hours later we have both cars loaded in one trailer, and the spares in the other.  All I can say is I am really glad we have a couple drivers coming from Tire Rack to bring some parts to get the old car out on track.......Can't wait to see everyone and have a great event!

Anyone know if the drivers meeting tomorrow for the test day is mandatory for all team members or send a team rep? I am getting in late.

It sounds like they will be holding a separate meeting at 12:45
