who the heck is going to check or even know?

From sight I would immediately know if your SBC config is as logged, regardless, usually I just smile, and go on my way as beating a dead horse is no fun for anyone.

Unless

Whatever transgressions seen are actually that far out of spirit...

would you know a small block or BB Mopar? I would. Furd? but who would care? it's an exhaust manifold....I got the engine at the yard these were on it.

It's not me to fret over, SB/BB Mopar, not a clue, but the whole track is teaming with experts of every make and model!

I've noticed that once a car that people don't know starts winning, we all become experts in that car pretty quick.

The rule is super clear.  if it didn't come on the motor for the year and model you're claiming, it's fixed value add.

if it's a swap we have the "miata precedent"

Usually you need to run the header from the motor you are swapping in.   but it they don't fit you can run a fancy one for free even if there is an alternate cast solution known.

Hmmm.  The last part is interesting to me.

Can you give an example where the cast one works but you get the fancy one anyway?

I bought a bunch of stock manifolds for my engine and couldn't get any of them to work without having the exhaust go into the firewall.  I would have greatly loved to find an off the shelf solution versus making my own set of headers.
