^  I think you're correct, but let's get that from an official source

See the video I posted earlier, definition came from Mike at the Board Meeting in Charlotte.

Per the Board of Directors - Cold air boxes are free.  Anything upstream of the throttle body is free.

Why is there so much inconsistency??

Aero valuations are a tough thing given the history we have.

I don't envy anyone that has to assign them at track. Not even all that excited about advising on them from home either....

My new airbox is as wide as the car and happens to be under the front bumper and sticks out 12 inches.

Uhh yeah "air intake" and "cold airbox" both mean the air filter before the throttle body, this like most rulings seem to make no sense.

In other words this vv

is replaced by this vv, it's one in the same thing.

I'm having a hard time understanding where the confusion is.

Jay thinks the bottom one is a free air intake with an additional cold air box that cost materials?

Just to confirm, a conventional aftermarket or homemade airbox is free of points. But as always if you have some ingenious way to make your car the unicorn of 2019 email me some pics before you show up at the tech line.

So will my Paxton air box be free? It is up stream from the throttle body. and sits in the fender area.
