yes.

There seems to be around 11 racers out there wanting to race. we will show up and put on a race, just like if the event had 100 cars.

My first time there too.  Is it hard on front bearings?  brakes?  tires?

Jer I guess it depends on what car you have but on our e36 had no front bearings problem, no brake problems but when we raced this track last it was very tough on left side tires.  There were many teams that were changing lefts before the end of each race.

Tire wear is going to be up on the left front as stated above.  There are three substantial brake zones, but nothing crazy.  Haven't been back since we were still the 1.6 but we did the whole weekend on a set of hawk pads back then on 1.8 rotors and calipers.  Track is really flat, might see an increase in bearing fatigue, but I would doubt it.  Beware the giant rut on the exit of turn 3?(end of the kink), you do not want to drop a tire off there.  One of the guys that drives with us occasionally was there for the WRL race and did it, sent the car across the track and into the armco hard!  Also there is a scary section after turn 12?  last left hander before the combo corner to the front straight, the track has a bit of a wave here out by the rumble, our car ended up getting loose here and into the tires drivers left.  Also, according to George(track owner) the day before our race a guy in a Z06 vette did the same thing, only difference was the vette was totaled and we finish the rest of the 14hr race.

Any word on the price of practice and or how to register?

I believe it's on Hasting's website.  It's $150/car which includes one driver, additional drivers are another $75 each.  It's afternoon only.  I don't know if we will get there in time anyway...maybe.

Um, say what?  Anybody else heard this?  I’ve only been once when I was a kid, but I liked it.

Yes we know it's for sale.  I talked to the lead instructor of their school at High Plains on Friday who reiterated it was for sale.  It's a no reserve auction.  Sadness.

So maybe Champcar can look to make an "investment" and buy its own track....Nebraska is basically the center of the USA so we could have all kinds of awesome events every weekend!

Serious note, anyone want to do a potluck Friday like we did at Gingerman?

The facilities look really nice!  Wish I had the monies.  I'm game for a potluck if I can bring something easy.  Pop or chips or something.  or???

There is a walmart in town, so if people want to grab premade stuff thats easy.  I'd be willing to bring some pulled pork or a grill and do brats, burgers, and dogs.    There is not a lot of options in town for great food so hanging at the track is always a good time.  I'll reach out to others I know that are coming that don't frequent the forum.  Let's make this a great time!

Want me to bring some microbrews from Denver?  Maybe two cases?

That would be excellent!  I'll bring some from Iowa!  I was working with a local brewery to sponsor the Gingerman potluck with beer and some swag, but the GM ended up having a baby a few days before and couldn't make it happen.  I'm going to try again for Hastings!

I'll bring an awesome mixture from Denver local breweries.  That will be my contribution.  :)

Cool!  I'll plan to bring a grill along, can do some brats, burgers, and hot dogs.  Hey @Bill Strong, any way you could send out an email to teams entered mentioning the potluck idea?  I'm happy to coordinate, just want a potential head count and a way to get info to everyone.

We won't get any attention.  Sebring the same weekend.

Ouch! 150/car and  $75/driver seems excessive!

That's $450 for a team of 4 to do a half day of HPDE practice.

Most practice days are around $200-300/car depending on track and 1/2day vs. Full.
