RandomTask
So we had taken out our dash. I was going to re-do the wiring/dash (make the interior neater). Question is the following: If I use plastic to remake the dash, does that count (Rule 4.3.2) as 3 points sqft? Or should I just get a stock dash and trim it up to fit? Thanks! Gkuhn41
If it does there are A LOT of teams not claiming those materials lol ours included!

We personally have never claimed any materials points in the 3 cars we've built for interior items such as center stack panels, gauge panels, dash covers, etc.. Quote 4.7.2. Driver comfort & information items are open and do not count towards total points (i.e. - steering wheel, removable steering wheel adapter, shifter handles, gauges, pedals, cool suits, vents, heaters, radio communications, etc.) Edited August 12, 2019 by Snorman
RandomTask
Many thanks. Missed that. I think we're going to try and get off EC for next race, so doing what I can to minimize points
turbogrill
It's the ADDED material right? So if you remove material and then add back the same material it should be fine. Let's say I build a new hood that has the exact same dimensions has the old one, that shouldn't be points? Now, If I cut a hole in my hood could I could use that material for wheel fenders or something.

HOWEVER, @National Tech (Jay) told me at Sebring last year when we tech'd that repurposed material was not points. So there's that...but I would always recommend confirming that. Technical Advisory Committee Ray Franck Posted August 12, 2019 Technical Advisory Committee Report Share Posted August 12, 2019 We do not charge points for dashes , consoles ,instrument pods , or interior bulkheads , do not remove floors or change their material . You can replace hood or body material with like shaped and kind material . If you repurpose material and make something from it you cannot replace the original material or part without adding points . Anytime you are planning on repurposing to make something take photos of where the material came from and the process used to make said piece . If you cannot provide proof of where it came from or how you changed it expect to add points .

My car was a really uncomfortable beast to drive until I updated the springs, shocks and sway bars. Now it is so much more comfortable at race speeds. Can I claim that as a zero point driver comfort item? 2

The anxiety is horrible. 1 1
Grufton
I found this neat airfoil shaped armrest, it's free for driver comfort right? Then I can repurpose it to the trunk for free later right?

If you take body metal and reuse it as body metal somewhere else its properly repurposed material. If you document with pics or a video and we beleive you then it would be free. Just one example there are many others. You can always email me and ask about specific repurpose ideas.
