Hunterflyy
Drove by the track last weekend, looks like the new paving is well underway.
Jab31169
Just got back from a weekend at Barber on the new pavement. Lots of grip, lots and lots of it. Any visual markers you had on the pavement are gone. The top of 4 has a little ripple/bump in it now. The surface also makes a ton of noise, it sounds like your tires are ready to bust loose, but they never do. The noise might improve as the track ages and rubbers up.
ablesnead
I was at Barber too....We run RS4's on an RX7 ..had to run 2lbs lower hot pressures all around to dial the tires in....wondered if it was the new very noisy pavement ... Quicker10u
Should be signing up for this event shortly. Looking forward to it!
Jab31169
WUDU is out for this event. We made progress with the car but not enough to call her race ready. Will hopefully be a volunteer worker or if someone wants a driver or drivers with a few thousand laps around Barber....

Yea, and our real jobs are keeping us out of town for work weekends and she has yet to even turn into a roller. Im pretty sad about it since its our home track and all, but not a lot we can do about it. I wont rush to get her done and show up untested only to ruin a race weekend.
Hammerheads
Can anyone who has been there in the past tell us if there are designated RV spots with power? Thanks, Bob

ablesnead
there are some rv spots dont know how many ....we were hooked up to one on the top level of the paddock
Jab31169
A whole bunch of spots with power. I think you can pay for power when you get there. Most spots are on the second or third levels of the paddock.
Hammerheads
Thanks for the info. As it is, we’re going to sit this one out. We broke the motor at Pittsburgh. Too broke to fix and not enough time to replace it and be ready to race. B

Rodger Coan-Burningham
Everybody is gonna have a blast on this new surface. It really talks to you, I mean really loud tire squeal in every turn. Going to be interesting to see how people respond to the new surface. I talked to some guys today that were out here when it was paved. They said the top layer has vermiculite in it, they had test patches of the old and the new this summer. They said in the sun you couldn’t hold your hand on the old and could lay your hand on the new. It also has a polymer that allows expansion/contraction to minimize cracks forming. The joints of lanes are almost undetectable. Really smooth surface. Edited November 17, 2019 by Burningham

I said after last year's monsoon I wouldn't put a car back out in those conditions. Just hope it isn't like that even if it's wet. I mean there is wet, and then there is driving and standing rain. That was miserable last year. Plus, our car got smashed which just made it even worse. 1

I welcome the challenge of driving in the rain but last year was borderline insane. Crazy when you move over two lanes on a straight and never move the steering wheel! Jer
And the forecast says.....drumroll......RAIN! (at least Saturday. Survivors can race in the sun on Sunday). Edited November 18, 2019 by Jer
