Fire bottles!! need help

So my bottle is not certified, has never been and i need to replace before Sonoma in February.  What are people doing, who are they getting them from, and how hard is recertification?  I'm not saying this is a bad idea but it will be expensive and a PITA I suspect.  Thoughts on sourcing?

3.9.1.4. EFFECTIVE 1/1/20 - On Board Fire Suppression Systems shall be inspected for recertification at least every two years after the date of original certification or as specified by the certifying manufacturer. When a unit is determined to be acceptable for continued service, a new conformance label marked with the inspection date shall be used. In-field recertification is permitted, but ONLY by the original manufacturer or its authorized agent. Mailing of certification labels to customers is strictly prohibited. Systems shall have a maximum field service life of 6 years (SFI) or 10 years (FIA) from the original date of installation

I contacted firesense and they refilled and recertified my bottle in like 2 days for $100.00.

Just make sure you don't list it as a fire extinguisher when shipping.  I had a hard time getting it shipped until I just called it racecar parts.

I don't think i can get mine certified, I think it needs to be replaced.  crap.  Cheapest option?

Is it 10 years old?

Im thinking you meant to say the “affordable and good”. Cheap and fire suppression is dirty when put together

Depending on brand. Most brands you can buy just the bottle and save a little not buying the tubing and hardware. I have a 4L SPA and the system is $400 but the bottle seperatly is $250. Discovery parts has it in stock plus 10% off for Champcar members. I’ll buy it first of next year. Mine is to old to recertify

That's what I plan to do as well.

I'm waiting till closer to the car is done though, since it'll just sit all winter anyway.  Doesn't need to be full to do mounting mock up or running lines.

IIRC if you miss the re-cert by more than a year they will not want to recert and make you replace.  Something about the AFFF going stale?

Bimmerworld just recertified both of mine, one is a SPA 4L and the other a Lifeline 4L

We have a Fire Sense cheapie kit, where does one find the bottle date?

On the sticker on the bottle.  On mine it was written in sharpie.

Mine was due in 2016.  They replaced the bottle for the same cost as a refill.

Spa technique firesense.

It's like $400 for the 4 liter system.  Charges around 100$ to refill and recert.  When I got it back, they noted that they replaced the bottle for 0.00$ due to rust inside.

Took like 2 days to get it back.

This was just before Charlotte this year (ya know, when my car caught on fire....)

I got out safely!

'Sharpie long ago has been erased accidentally when de-greasing the interior...Amazing how dingy the thing gets after a couple races!

Edit:

Reading the label sure does help, SPA system, called the Phone, found they are serviced locally by Wine Country, Jupiter Fl.

This poop right here is fracking insane to me.... I have hand delivered my bottle to BimmerWorld and they recertified it after two years as stated on the bottle.

I will do the same in a few months when it comes due again.

So, am I confused or should I be infuriated because a new rule says I have to replace my bottle every time it needs recertification?

No, you don't need to replace.  They will determine that based on internal situation.  Empty it, and send it for 100$.  A hole.
