Pit Maneuver Experts Racing Team is based out of the NW metro Atlanta area. Team members, all equal shareholders, Drew Huseby, William McCourt, Chris Porter and Mike McCourt. We are hoping to debut at the 2020 season opener at Road Atlanta and wherever else our budget allows us afterwards. The car is a 1987 Nissan 200sx/S12 coupe, powered by a BMW M50B25TU.

Why are you going with the engine you chose?

The engine in the car ran great for years, didn’t need anything and was sitting on a pallet ready to go. My team and I are proficient in m5x motors and my brother is proficient in the chassis. The car I have had for almost a decade taking up space. We really just put together what we had laying around.

Well, that is a simple enough reason.

I am curious what kind of power it takes to be competitive in this series.  That was why I asked.  Trying to see if that was something you were thinking about when you picked an engine.  I am currently starting to build a 323CI with the stock m52tub25. I doubt it will be fast enough to be very competitive but it seams like a reasonably straight forward chassis to start with as there are not that many points to play with so it keeps the mods down.

I can always build another platform that has a lower VPI if I want to be more competitive down the road.

I believe the reigning series champion is an e46 323.

I would say that a car around 2500 pounds and 200 hp is right where a good team can be successful and win.  Take that pwr and figure out how much hp you need for your weight.

We have won a few races with our car being well below that target (150 whp with about 2300#) bit it takes a damn near perfect race.
