Yes, we did post the first overall Chumpcar win in a Fiero, and did it in a 6 hour race with careful strategy and efficient driving. Won by three laps and posted the second fastest lap of the day doing it. Glad that Doorslammers proved once again why the BMW teams are so afraid of Fieros that they don't want them to compete on a level playing field. Nah, we just have to be smarter and faster than the teams that have to have an advantage just to keep up.
Voodoo Child
Congratulations to the Door Slammers for their "double" this weekend. Well prepared, well sorted cars and top notch drivers are a tough combination to beat!! Congratulations to Champcar and their marketing department for having Jay Leno and Adam Carolla drive for an upcoming episode of Jay Leno's garage-and for giving Champcar exposure at this year's SEMA show. I am sure Bill Strong will be posting to all the social media sites this week once the show opens up-but I have a "sneak preview" of the booth which is located in the Performance Pavilion in space 51228. Special congratulations to all the competitors this weekend. Great weather, great camaraderie, lots of smiles, and lots of great racing. To everyone who attended this weekend-put out the word to all the teams you know who might not have participated to join us next year (and at all our other upcoming events). Word of mouth is the best way to get our numbers up and ensure we will continue to have the opportunity to race on the best tracks. Dana and his team run a great show, and we would love more competitors come out to join the fun. 8

Voodoo Child
I have a great crew who are getting used to "Making the Impossible Happen" (and putting up with the crazy things I get us involved in as well as my "usual" totally unreasonable requests). We came back to the shop Saturday, changed some fenders, "pulled" out the door, used lots of rubbing compound and cleaned the car, loaded up, and were home for (late) dinner! macheesy
How was the sunday penalty lap situation handled for that awesome fast fiero? They won by a ton both days and deserved both wins. I'm just trying to sort it out from mylaps but can't figure it out. And since there was no broadcast for the sunday race we didn't have the usual enlightening commentary from Bill/Doc/Paulie. 55mini
Oh sorry my bad, couldn't get past the look of the Datsun and never even looked at the M3 on the picture. Old guy likes the old school Z!

Yes, I was commenting on the 5 series with the wing that ran at Indy in EC class.

They started at -5 laps on Sunday and were under 2 minutes a lot while they unlapped themselves. We were running low 2 minute laps dueling with the Flying Hawaiians (the other gorgeous Datsun) and the 227 BMW. Shout out to @Jamie! We were watching video last night and it was awesome good fun. Note: Track was faster on Sunday as the racers did a really good job clearing the chicane.... and some cones going out of the Playground onto the oval....

bellwilliam
question: how did #227 (BMW) so far back? looked at their lap times, they were sub 2 minute or low 2s with excellent pit stops. didn't see any long stops indicating issues. this was on Sunday. Ian Moone
Man o man! Elbows up and belts pulled tight! That was some great driving. Mikiel was keeping it in the mix and capitalizing on the mistakes. Jamie was flogging his horse too! What a battle with the 227. Good clean racing that makes the breakdowns that much more disappointing. Thanks for posting so we can all enjoy it. Thanks to the drivers too. That was a 2 beer show right there! I just wish I could drive like that. Edited November 6, 2019 by Ian Moone spelling

That car is a 2001 BMW 330, so I suspect (but don't know for sure) that it had penalty laps for being over 500 points. So he had to 'unlap' himself before he could actually be a contender.
